Cream Tea thanks so much for your NHS supporting rant. I too work for the NHS and in the last 8 years I have never worked a weekend without a consultant around (and god knows I've worked a lot of weekends). Of course this is only a straw man argument employed by Hunt to distract from the fact that weekend services are under strain not because doctors are refusing to work but because a) the goverment is unwilling to pay for the extra staffing required to provide a complete weekend service and b) even if the money was there there aren't enough doctors and nurses in the country to provide full 24/7/365. Emergency serivces already exist and the priority should be in improving and strengthening them and not promise to put on a diabetic foot clinic on a Sunday at 3am!
Thank you again for bringing this up and thank you for your hard work.

I'm back from a lovely holiday with the fam a lam. Lots of diaries to catch up on so bare with me. Looking forward to the monthly figures update. I suspect I've spent more than planned on holiday but it was very good for us to totally relax.
Thank you Resilie. My fear is that Hunts campaign against the NHS is working and people believe what he says. I sadly think this is all part of his wider plan to get public approval for completely privatising the NHS despite it being such a wonderful asset to our country.
Hope everyone is well.

Great rant, only thing I would add is that it would be even more 24/7 with more funding so that all amenities can be kept open all weekend including non emergency blood work etc and discharging, this is lack of funding though not that staff don't work it! I'm not with the NHS at the moment nursing but doesn't mean I don't support the NHS and staff that keep it going!
Glad you had a good holiday, just nosing about the Funding Circle? I have been toying with this idea but just wasn't sure, how you finding it all?

Thank you Ourcornercottage and greent. Happy to be back.
Jodles16 so true. I think mr Hunt had offended Doctors, Nurses and all allied health professionals, nhs or otherwise. It is just so short sighted nasty Mr Hunt stop breaking the NHS, how about work with us to improve it!

With OP we have reduced mortgage by approx £950 this month and knocked another month of the end date bringing us to March '33. I've also just paid another £190 off the CC in a moment of madness. It should be paid off before the end of August all things being equal.
I cannot wait to be debt free! I think I will suggest we do something nice when it happens. Then mad mad savings so all our goals are achieved a fortnight before Christmas. I plan to then give us Christmas off saving because DH doesn't work over Christmas, we always have lots of parties and presents to buy and traditionally we never save over that time.
