    Show us your evidence!

Link shows Croydons penalty charges. Seem to run from £80 to £130.

    Pretty close to PPC amounts.

I did not say that! I said *if you were depriving them of revenue"

there charges are £x per hour , and you should pay this.

a person that pays rates etc , plus the cost of the land should receive payments for offering there services , if you accept the costs , pay , if not look elsewere.

what is being discussed here is the fact that PPCs are asking a sum much greater than there loses

IE , if parking is £1 an hour and you overstay by 40 mins you owe for 40 mins or to round it up , 1 hour max.

if you have a hotel room and check out late , they "might" charge you for an extra night (or in the case of parking , an extra hour) but not a £100 supposed "fine"

I'm with you on this. Our hospital is free for the first 30 minutes, but £2 for 2 hours, £3 for 8 hours, a day is £6, a week is £9, a month is £30. So at best it's free, or £1 a day, up to £1 an hour. So, how can they justify charging me £2, if others don't pay at all, or buy a month's worth at 4p at hour. I don't reckon I should pay at all, I didn't ask to be ill, and if no one can make me, I won't be paying again when we win. And it's all open plan, so no chance at all of any barriers ever going in without major building work and a lot of new roads. :)

    NO!

'Seems to run from' £30! Very selective quotation, old boy/girl!

You fail to make any analysis or explanation of Croydon's two tier system of charges or make a true 'compare and contrast' with PPC charges (and don't forget councils have statutory backing, totally unlike any backing PPCs have!).

Out of your depth on here, I'm afraid. Is there not an X-Factor or Strictly forum on MSE for you?
Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

    £25-70 in Notts:

PCNs for Local Authority car parks and on street parking do seem significantly less expensive than private ones. My colleague at work often pays £50-60 when he gets a ticket even with the 'discount' applied in Lincoln, as he can't be bothered to contest them. I keep offering to set up a Standing Order for him. :rotfl:

@ Bantex - I echo what the other posters have stated here - have seen your attempts at derailment before on this forum and yet you have not posted to help

Getting back to the subject matter in hand.

Whilst I applaud Mr Green for his desire to help and get refunds for motorists - I do have some doubts about the feasibility and the realistic application of his idea.

Before anyone knocks me back- I too have had a long conversation with Michael.

The bulk of motorists will park sensibly, with or without a pariah on duty!

This is true. Mostly, people are self regulating. We have events in a large urban space locally. The roads get busy and people park all over. But it's rare for access to be blocked, or parking to be illegal. Sure, it's become cramped for a bit, but not usually needing "sorting out".

In a similar vein, my local supermarket has done two "remarkable things". One is to remove the £1 release chain so that you can just use the trolly: the other is to employ a PPC. Asking the manager why, on both counts, he said "oh, we've found we can trust people to return the trollies. We hardly ever lose them." And on the PPC - " If we don't people will park where they like and for how ever long they like".

There WAS no parking problem at this site, and the manager couldn't see the irony between the two statements.

I see you say 'usually needing "sorting out".' I have to admit I would still be careful on a public road, but I guess you do get a few that still take the chance round you then, but I wouldn't as you say the police can take action. Cramped is still a bit iffy for me though, but so long as no one blocks me in, I don't mind them parking where they want to. Had a few rows over blocking drives, but I reckon so long as the car's not on, it's ok for a short while. I'm not breaking any law.

Why am I not surprised that those who support the lowlife scum PPC's also have a turn of mind that thinks everyone will abuse the facilities if ParkingEye or ANPR Ltd. isn't there to screw them? Is it perhaps just themselves they are thinking of?
