Class action against parking companies?

They would have to chase each infringement separately.
If people take the pee then things will change for the worse.
If people just start parking wherever they like whether they're using the nearby facilities or not and chaos ensues then it's likely that something will be done to prevent that. What will your verse be?

No you are trying to railroad the discussion in another direction.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

I am not on any side, worry that a total free for all will be even worse than the current situation though.
Why should you 'worry'? There's many more important things in life for you to 'worry' about than parking issues! If you're so 'worried', why don't you try to help on here? I've never seen one post from you which has 'helped' any motorist on parking issues. If you have, I'm more than happy to be corrected - please post up the links to refresh my memory!
The bulk of motorists will park sensibly, with or without a pariah on duty!
The vast majority of people we help here are not habitual 'rogue parkers' or 'chancers' but ordinary folk who have made little more than a minor human error (1 inch over a white line because the car next to them was so parked; a few minutes over some arbitrary time limit; a chemotherapy session that over-ran), and then smashed by a sledgehammer blow of serious financial proportion, not to recover any minuscule loss (as per contract law), but to enrich the pockets of unscrupulous graspers.
And you say you're 'not on any side'. Why on earth are you here?
Is there not another more appropriate forum for you to hover and haunt? I was going to say FRO, but thought better of it!Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .
I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

If the Parking company's current business model of demanding punative sums of money in order to milk the motorist is no more then will we have parking chaos?
Probably not, things will just return to how they were before the PPC infestation.
I can rememebr a few supermarkets operating a barier system where you go a token with your shopping that then allowed the barrier to lift and let you out - no token then that'll be a pound coin instead.
And when the place was shut then so were the gates to the car park. From the Plain Language Commission:

Does seem the parking companies "charge" similar amounts to local authorities for similar "offences". Where does "punitive" start? If the Parking company's current business model of demanding punative sums of money in order to milk the motorist is no more then will we have parking chaos?

Mikerobertgreen was not around when PTAS was formed - he may be helping you a lot now....

@ Bantex - I echo what the other posters have stated here - have seen your attempts at derailment before on this forum and yet you have not posted to help

Getting back to the subject matter in hand.
Whilst I applaud Mr Green for his desire to help and get refunds for motorists - I do have some doubts about the feasibility and the realistic application of his idea.
Before anyone knocks me back- I too have had a long conversation with Michael.0
