There is an interesting article in today's Mail online website; I am sorry that as a new user I am not allowed to post the link directly, but the title of the article is "Legal battle over 'illegal' car park fines at supermarkets and hospitals could spark refunds for millions of motorists". Perhaps one of the regulars would be interested in adding the link to the thread.
Having been a victim of the con (Athena/Lidl) before I had discovered the enormously useful and supportive info on MSE, I have signed up to Michael Green's Challengethefine website and await developments with interest.
If there was an icon for fingers crossed it would be added here.

Fook me, I don't believe it! Michael Green has hit the motherlode with that, his campaign will go stratospheric now!
A couple of days ago he had 100-odd registrations, suddenly it's over 1,000! You rock Michael, go for it son!Je suis Charlie.0 -
Slowly Slowly the ball is starting to roll. It'd be ironic if a graduate from Cambridge destroyed the scammers. In the end maybe Cambridge will be decisive. Every little helps. I hope some of the wise heads like Benefit Master, Bargepole, Coupon-Mad, Enigma and Gan + Valiant from Pep can liase with him.0

Well done Michael Green! Everyone who has paid one of these, or knows someone who has, should let him have an email address for the group action, discussed here:

and he's a poster on MSE too:

The supermarkets, NHS Trusts, airports, residential management companies et al should be totally sh*****g themselves over this. If young Michael succeeds then every PPC will go bust overnight and Michael will be hunting down their principals for the millions in refunds.Je suis Charlie.0

In the days of clamping many people tried to get their money back from the clampits, only to find the company went bust and started up again under another name.
the only real way people saw their money returned was to go for the landowners who took the scumbags on.
The same goes for PPCs there is enough evidence around from various sources including published court papers showing what exactly these parking company are up to, if any company corporation etc decides to hire a deceitful company then they should face the consequences irrespective of weather its a large supermarket chain, an NHS trust or anyone else.
And if it is a public funded body such as an NHS trust then the individuals involved should be removed form their positions and bared from working in any such positions again ( and possibly sued by the NHS / public body)From the Plain Language Commission:

True, you do have to watch out for them, but he could effectively open up any private space for free parking anywhere, without any repercussion, which would be brilliant for motorists. Just a shame he can't do it in the run up to christmas, as the car parks are always full, and the aggro of a ticket does put me off simply parking on the grass, end of bays etc, or just parking all day in the supermarkets. It could also mean pay and display will be things of the past, as all they could do was recover the couple of quid I should have paid anyway, as that's the loss. The man is a legend, I hope he gets it done soon for us all.0 -
Yes I've been in touch, spoken to him on the phone and sent him some info for his campaign.Ryan_Bryan wrote: »Slowly Slowly the ball is starting to roll. At the end of the day, though, his action will stand or fall on the outcome of the Parking Eye v Beavis appeal case in February.
If he has thousands of names lined up ready to go, and Beavis wins, there will be months of misery for PPCs - and possibly the landowners who employed them - in 2015.
I have been providing assistance, including Lay Representation at Court hearings (current score: won 57, lost 14), to defendants in parking cases for over 5 years. I have an LLB (Hons) degree, and have a Graduate Diploma in Civil Litigation from CILEx. However, any advice given on these forums by me is NOT formal legal advice, and I accept no liability for its accuracy.0 -

The cheapskate companies engaging these scum will just have to spend a bit of their own money doing the job properly then, like they should've done in the first place. I've never seen anyone get out of a car park without paying when there's an exit barrier.
And/or reduce their charges to something that covers their costs instead of inviting pond life to make a fast buck out the misery of pensioners, the disabled and the sick.Je suis Charlie.0
