Moohound glad your niece is getting sorted. How annoying about your mum's comments, have you mentioned to her that you are saving. When I told my friends and family what my monthly spending budget was they seemed to become more sympathetic.

Speakingofart you read my mind, I've just read the second weekly challenge after finishing decluttering and rearranging the spare room :)

Spend day today as I'm treating my family to a takeaway as a thank you for dog sitting for a week. I also got petrol but spent quite a lot on air freshener, which is kind of necessary with all the pets and a smoking OH :(

My mum knows I am trying to save, and I am doing OK with it, I have bought all my Christmas presents except one (OH) saved £100, and bought decorating stuff for the kitchen, and still have a little bit left this month.

Regarding my mum, in one breath she says 'you can't afford that' when I bought her a handbag for Christmas that she liked, and it was reduced by 30% and I had budgeted for it. Then in the next breath she says everything in my house "smells of dog" and needs replacing :(

My dog is very old and a little bit smelly and I will save and budget for new carpets and sofas when he goes to heaven.

Whatever I do she makes me feel inadequate, don't get me wrong she is lovely and very generous and does loads for me, including looking after my son after school. I just find that her comments can wear me down.

Spend day today. 32 quid in Lidl on fruit, veg, bread, cold cuts and washing up sponges. OH paid for lunch out with DS old nursery pal and his parents and stuff from the halal shop for a massive lamb curry that is in the slow cooke.

Lovd the second weekly challenge. That was my plan anyway on my day off on Monday as the weather might be to bad for gardening.

Will still have to pay for another bus pass as it came through today. So they will want their money. Forgot there is a month's cancellation notice. Oh well will just have to make the best out of it.

Have a lovely relaxing evening all

  • Vintagebritainmy oh won't be happy me decluttering either as he's a bit of a hoarder. His mantra is "it might come in useful". We had a major de clutter earlier in the year the amount of stuff we got rid of we could of opened our own charity shop and kept it running for several weeks.:rotfl:
Claiming another nsd I think. Won £25 on the lottery so paid for DD1 iceskating and lunch with that. Is that within the rules of nsd?
Was supposed to be going to a bonfire tonight but they cancelled it this morning because of the rain. Not raining now though. Never mind.DD1 in the kitchen making ginger biscuits and flapjack.:kisses3::kisses3:

I claim another NSD. Yay! In fact, the only time I left the house was to pop a pair of boots to my neighbour as they were off to see some fireworks in a muddy place and had nothing suitable.

Dd is a poorly thing. She has a rotten cough and cold. Last night she did her old trick of coughing so much she was sick. In her sleep! Poor mite. And she is well poorly as she is currently asleep - this child does not EVER go to sleep much before 9pm!

I shall go and make up the spare bed for dh in a mo. But, first, I am grateful for ca1po1 and ibuprofen and buttercup syrup and olbas oil, for hanging up another fleece on the curtain and feeling so snug, for the rugby on terrestrial telly, for dd falling asleep in a nanosecond, for getting some crafting done today.

  • apple lots of love and hugs to DD. Jelly is sick in her sleep due to coughing, with every cold we get. Last year she basically spent the entire winter with her bed feet resting on books at the head end so that she could sleep with a cold. It is very hard to see them like that isn't it. Touching all manner of wooden objects including my head, she has not thus far been afflicted this year! There are some sniffly kids at her nursery so we shall see!

Advent Calendars for foodbanks is being pushed massively by Jason Manford on FBook after a follower of his explained they were doing it. Jason bought £500 of calendars and selection boxes to pass out to a few of his local foodbanks as well as giving out the link for The Trussel Trust (I think it is?) to show local foodbanks in your area. His followers have racked up a gigantic amount of advent calendars and selection boxes for the kids whose parents have to go to foodbanks this time of year. It makes my heart sad to think of things like this happening in our country. Then I think of other countries and decide not to watch the news any more.

Counting Thursday, day of postage only as a SFD, then. Friday was a day of illicit chocolate spends of £2, and I was supposed to get a taxi home as Him had a job interview at 6:15 but forgot to order it so walked really really fast. I have the blister from those new trainers to prove it... :( So that was £5 saved. Then to celebrate the interview, I blew it really bad by buying a Pizza Hut. I got £19 off, and it still came to £23 *faints*. But then I paid with paypal which they have mysteriously topped up with £5. Add this to the £2.20 languishing in there and my actual spend from the bank was £16.78. Still... but not quite as bad as the original price. And because I barely ate more than a quarter of my giant pizza I have been munching on it for breakfast and lunch so far. Tonights dinner is a slow-cooker stew that has been cooking away all day and some mashed potatoes. Nom. As it is just me, that will probably be a theme this weekend. Recycled cold pizza and stew again tomorrow. Lol.

My one and only day of the week where an alarm does not wake me and Jelly decided to break her run of 9am wake ups to get me up before 7 :( I do hate being a single parent 4 days of the week sometimes.

So. Today has been onesie day. Me, Minnie Mouse, Jelly IronMan. :rotfl: it has saved the heating from going on, and the wind has been gusting through the bedroom windows blow drying my bed sheets. No exercise here though.

Decluttering was a job I attacked with gusto last weekend, resulting in a 660 litre bin mostly full of my old junk, donations to my neighbour, and also to my friend. There is nothing left to declutter so says my princess and the pea mentality, and if I can hack it like this, it must be completely junk free for once :D so this weeks challenge sailed! :D

Off to watch a 'Castle' with my dinner and then I will be back rooting through diaries until MOTD. Night guys. xx

    Good evening.

Finished work and have now had tea so coming online to update. Spend-free day yesterday and today so now up to four!!!!!!!!!!!
    :j

Last weekend, OH and I decluttered and cleaned the whole house so feeling pretty awesome about achieving this weeks mini challenge already.
    :D

OH and I ended up listening to the frozen song (the "let it go" one) in french and both really enjoyed it... so we are now going to learn french.
    :rotfl:

Not really much else to say I'm afraid. Work was great but my poor brain isn't really working any more. Will resume my usual chattyness tomorrow.
    :o

    Hugs to everyone.

liltdiddylilt I feel for you with the early starts of kids. I'm not a single parent but
since I started work 5 weeks ago I had one lie in otherwise mostly half 5 starts :( because it's usually me that gets the baby and DS till OH makes an appearance. He didn't even offer tomorrow, grrr. Well I'm off on Monday. Might not risk him having to make decent lunches so might prepare them the night before but he can get them half whatever time they get up and see what it's like.

    Evening all

I don't know how I'd cope if I had children waking me up, you lot must have so much patience/love for your little ones. I can just about manage to get up once a night and let the dogs out and I get up at 6 on a weekday and struggle to lie in at weekends.

Today was spendy but the takeaway for my family was £17 less than budgeted for so I'm delighted :) Done quite a bit around the house today and braved one trip out to the shops for air fresheners, but the weather was horrid.

I'm off to sleep and plan what next to declutter. Does anyone else find that if they are thinking of something/a problem when they fall asleep, they wake up with solution/answer?

No NSD for me today as I had to get some bits.
Loving the declutter challenge, I'll be on that as of tomorrow!
