    Evening all

Spendy day after all, and not even on Christmas presents, tut tut. Got a trinket for my house and a cake and a drink whilst out. I have missed my SFD target but should be able to scrape some during this week to start December off in a good way.

Beat my exercise target :) Although actually gained weight as calorie consumption has been stupidly high, another action point for December.

Hope you've all had a good day, thank you so much for the challenge and mini challenges soa, I've really enjoyed your challenge :)
    LBM = 07/09/13 Debt = £13339 (100% cleared)

  • SOA I am about to disembark. Thank you so much for the challenge. I battened down in some areas but I am afraid I took on serious water in other places. Still it has been a success.

Today I baked a dairy free 2.5lb banana loaf for Jelly and also made hm lasagne which has never been done before! Both beautiful. Thanks for the kick up the bum everyone. :)

    SFD: 19/18
    Groceries £250/£130 :(

See you in December! T-2mins! xx

  • I'm next off the ship :)

Thank you SOA for the challange, and thanks to all of you who have made me feel very welcome in my first month (of many I hope!)

    So, checking in with targets:

SFD - 13/15 - Something I need to work on
Food - 190.91/200 YAY!!!! Managed to get a few pressies out of it too!
    Petrol - 55/60 Happy days!
    Misc - I haven't got a clue.

Things I need to work on next month:
Recording spends so that I don't end up with no idea how much 'other' I've spent. EVEN if it totally blows the budget.
    SFD's.

Managed to end the month with less debt than I started, so all in all i'm chuffed!

It's been a bumpy ride, see you all in the December thread!

A record of my sig before I change it. I appear to be the last to disembark :)

Not too bad.... a fail on the weightloss, overspent slightly on some areas but underspent on others.

But, even though I don't post loads, this thread has given me focus so thank you everyone.

See you all on the December challenge, I'm sure I'll do better.

  • think I lost my way a little (and completely blew the food budget!) this month, and know although my plotted planned spends came in under budget I spent way over the savings I'd put aside for Xmas. Admit I stopped counting in the last week, except for SFD's, which I managed to hit my target for at least.

So, I have wiped my YNAB clean with the "Fresh Start" button and from today I have the electronic version of a brand new textbook, have put in my budgets and direct debits and promise faithfully to detail everything on there from now on. Was good at entering spends, just had so many little pots and budgets that I couldn't actually see the big picture (my fault, not YNAB's).

So, will update my sig once I've finalised my December plans and promise to do better this month. Thanks for the challenge, SOA, sorry I didn't commit as much as I should but at least it kept me reined in more than I would have done left to my own devices...

See you all on the December board x

Going to have a catch up in a minute - DS3 has decided to try sleeping in the downstairs bed so I took my life in my hands and crutched my way across the pizza boxes and chip cartons to 'borrow' his laptop cable - Ds1 one has ordered me another as the one he sent for while I was in hospital gave up after the first couple of times.

Last month wasn't as bad as I thought. I had worked out that I had at least £230 worth of food that could be transferred forward but then DS3 managed to spend £40 online as none of the food I bought is suitable for him - ie it won't hop out of the freezer and into the microwave and then walk upstairs to his room (the magic fairy who performs these miracles must be on strike:rotfl:). So food budget was £195/£150.

Overall I am approximately £1000 worse off (moving expenses, feeding the helpers, food, renewing the year's line rental early and forwarding the mail) but some of this will come back in dribs and drabs when I get rebates on existing line rental (already been told I have nothing to pay for this month's phone bill as I am in credit).

However I am still better off than I was at the start of the year and I have paid out for the damp proof course, lots of money for minor repairs and paint and in a year when my income has been negligible (apart from rent which wasn't very reliable).

Still not given notice to the bad estate agent but not expecting anything to happen until the new year so a few more days won't matter. getting on well with notifying everyone else and managed to walk as far as the post office to post off all the cards last Friday.

Finally managing to relax and enjoy recuperating. I found the Christmas stocking, the cushion covers and the Christmas ornaments I want to give to various people and hoping to have them all finished and sewn up by the end of the week. Really enjoying reading as well. Thought the books the library service had picked were a bit too challenging at first but have really enjoyed losing myself in a book and read them from cover to cover - have been living too much on the surface of life, good to take a step back (and discovered lots of 'new to me' authors.

Done a quick budget for December. I am allowing £25 for travel - two appointments, one I may get a lift for and hope to combine going to mum's for a shower (hoping I can manage bus) and possibly a little shopping - want satsumas and another couple of loaves, possibly fresh salad and would like more fizzy water. DS3 is going to his gf's for Christmas but DS2 will come to tie my shoelaces and re-stock my water - if the bottles don't get re-filled I can walk to the bathroom but I can't carry a glass of water back, I have to drink it at the sink.

Trying to do a little bit each day but still lots of limits on what I can do and still very sleepy - have tried cutting back on painkillers again today, having one on alternate days. Other than that the world and it's concerns seem very far away - just ploughed my way through over a week's worth of e-mails and these offers and bargains are just totally irrelevant. So have a merry Christmas turtles and look after yourself.
