NST November: battening down the hatches!

Well stuff is moved - just needs moving around the house (imagine fridge tetris on a larger scale). DS1 was a great help, DS3 less so, kept hiding in the toilet. Whenever I heard them 'having words' I walked away quietly. DS1 wouldn't let me clean as we cleared so I have to do that one day.
Still not a NSD in sight. Used the last day of my weekly bus ticket to go to the doctors (prescriptions, details for hospital admission form, change of address and confirmed that I do not have a foot appointment on Thursday 28th) collected a parcel for DS1 and visit to the cemetery.
Spent the rest of the time dispatching DS2's things to cs,binning things (de-clutter total going up but it needs to go faster), battling the council and royal mail websites and moving and clearing boxes (have worked DS3 so hard that 'no work will be done today' and he's stayed in bed sleeping.
No proper food has been purchased, must happen soon, hunted down a tin of soup for tea as have been living on sandwiches all day - ate one to take pills waiting for bus to infirmary and had a lovely if slightly chilly al fresco lunch in a bike/smoking shelter - can't tell you where as might get the nice woman into trouble (the paper that supported Hitler would probably think I should have been given a full security search as I had my little back pack).
Must go catch the bus - think there's another. My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.NST SEP No 1 No Debt No mortgage0 -
Hi all
Thanks for the sympathy. I wish I could say I have cheered up about HMRC's incompetencies but I haven't boo hiss indeed.
apple recipe duly stolen. I may need more of the garam masala etc. 2kg of parsnips... Lol.
thrifty I breathed an audible sigh of relief when you said you would not have thrown away the bolognese! In my (albeit freezing cold and unheated) kitchen, sometimes things sit out because the fridge will not hold anything more! Usually if it is a pan of something (scotch broth!) then I just make sure to keep the lid on and heat it up until it has been boiling for 5 minutes before I eat it. I have a sensitive tummy and thus far no issues. Makes me wonder what they did in the days before electricity and refridgerators
Could have put my milk on the windowsill last night and it would have been fine! Blimmin freezing. The heating was on this morning when I got up.. with the thermostat set to 15 degrees
New horrifying trainers have turned up. Think they may rub as they are very stiff on the back and need to be worn in a bit, so have ore-applied blister patches to my heels and hoping to survive. Not as ugly as I thought though.
I have a question!! Him sold some stuff on ebay with postage paid by the buyer immediately. He sent them off, and paid for the postage he had already been given the money for. That was the only 'spend' so is it a spend if he got the money from the buyer?
SFD's currently 4/18 maybe 5
Groceries: £61.69/£130
Exercise: another 4 miles today
Money earned: £90 ebaying 2 items. More to go!
Must off to bed. Has anyone seen Monty? I think it is partly ridiculous how some unnamed companies spend their annual advertising on one Christmas ad, and yet I can't help but say aww/cry.
Night all x

Hiya.
Not seen monty as of yet but there is a heap of adverts on FB about a penguin which looks incredibly cute (but crazily expensive).
Today has got to be the most expensive spend-free day ever. Car had its MOT today... two new tyres, brake discs and back shock absorbers. Looking at £500!!!!!!
However, bill is not on my doorstep yet and the garage owners (relatives) are absolutely lovely and let me pay it off in installments so can pay it over two months and save myself a panic.
OH bought the toothpaste and his deodorant with his own money so SFD remained intact.
:j
Back to work tomorrow... counting down the days until I retire... they're still in the thousands I think.
Spending my evening trying to figure out the new googlemaps thing. Can't find streetview which is a bit gutting (love looking at stuff properly).
Today is Los Angeles!!
mothernerd... sounds like everything is going great. Can't wait until we get your "all moved in and happy" post.

lilt - I know what you mean. I could never afford to shop in JL, but their adverts get me every year!
mothernerd - glad you're all moved. Cleaning and clearing in one day sounds like a very big job - sensible DS!
Spendy day yesterday - bought me and my friend a coffee as she came to see me at work for lunch, which was lovely - I take a lunch break about once a month, so this was a nice treat. NSD today, tomorrow will be spendy as I have to pay £45 (!!!!!!!) to hire a graduation robe for January. <pout>
£100/ £150 groceries till 15th November
£0/0 petrol till 15th november
Outings £0/£20 (takeaway with friend, trip to see Levellers play)
NSDs 3/20

soa - we've been told we need robes for our prizegiving evening. Got one from ebay - a buy it now, not a bidding one - for about £25. Don't know if you need a specific colour trim and mortar board...? That would up the cost. Or you cou

Morning All, well sister loved her gifts that I got her for her 40th yesterday which was nice. It's my niece's birthday today but I gave her thje gift last night so she could have somehting to open while her mum had lots of gifts to open. We are out tonight as a family for a meal to also celebrate my sister's 40th.
Now I need to turn my attention to Christmas. Any ideas for little girls ages 6 and 2? Ideally I don't want to spend any more than £30 for each of them. I have gone a bit crazy with their gifts over the last few years so it is time to reign things in. But having no kids of my own I never really know what to get. They both like books (as do I) so I may make up mini hampers for them with books as one of the items.0 -
allie 6 yo may like rainbow magic or secret unicorn books. An annual? Nail varnishes?NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0

Thanks Apple muncher. Yes, I have had a look at the rainbow magic books. I bought her one in the summer (Summer the holiday fairy) more by chance than by design but she really liked it so I will get a couple more of them. Nail varnishes a great idea. Thank you.0

Apple muncher, how about hama beads or similar crafty bits for the 6 yo. I used to love them as a child. And how about an aqua doodle (non btanded ones available too) for the young one. Non-messy painting fun.
Today should be an SFD. Probably pop to the shops tomorrow for fresh fruit and bread.DEBT 02/25: total £6100 Debt free date 12/250
