Saw this video after listening to a news article on the radio.
At the first view I thought it amusing, but then looked at the context at which the video was made, which got me thinking.....
Seems passing an innocent compliment is deemed as harrasment
Ok, it's uncalled for compliments, I wonder though (all be it an actor) if the walk would have gone 10hrs, if passers were looking away in disgust?
Just a couple of weeks ago on my day off I was walking along the road and passed some schoolgirls, then one shouted 'nice bum' I turned round and waved my finger but we all saw the funny side.
It does leave me in two minds now whether to ever pass a compliment to anyone for any reason, as the last thing I would want to be accused of his harrasment.

It seems very simple to not harass strangers by feeling you have the right to shout what you like at them so yes, please do stop doing it!2021 GC £1365.71/ £24000

Hmm, you seem to have missed a point of what I was posting, I didn't say I do that or not in the context of the passers in the article. But the whole thing spans to all sorts (online dating for instance) as many will go by what they see, then basically it's all based on harrasment.0 -

This implies that you do it just now. I'm only going on what you post!

I watched the video and I thought that some of them weren't that bad in all fairness (don't get me wrong, the following was creepy!!). We now live in a society where people won't even talk to passers by for fear of being accused of harassment.
I have been sexually harassed before and it was a lot worse than some of the things in that article.
Having said this, it is a pain when you feel like you can't walk down the street without having someone "catcall" you, I just think it's a shame that all comments made by strangers are grouped together like this. Our Rainbow Twins born 17th April 2016

That was my initial thought, I guess as it was without 'invitation' is what made it worse, although at 10hrs is 600 mins, if there were over 100 comments, then that's every 6 minutes which then does seem a lot.0 -

Yes, very true. I read another article and a lot of people said this is very typical in New York and less heard of in other states.
...I can't remember the last time I was catcalled in the street..Our Rainbow Twins born 17th April 2016

From the site "street harrasment happens everywhere"
Street harassment happens everywhere, although our maps indicate that population density may be a factor for it. If you think about it, this makes sense: if one out of every fifty guys you pass is going to harass you, you’ll be far more likely to experience street harassment on Wall Street than in a Walmart parking lot.

"It's not that bad" is it? Men who do this follow the view that public spaces are owned by the men and women are given permission to walk through them. Women are then viewed as objects to be ogled for their own enjoyment rather than people with feelings. New York must be a special case though because I've never seen anything like this in the UK, not even London.0

Way to generalise half of the world's population in one post. I know plenty of people who don't think this way but would compliment a person in the street.
I'm not saying all of the stuff in that article was okay, some of it was creepy but some of it wasn't as well. I'm not saying it's okay for someone to be made uncomfortable by it but I don't think every single one of those people in that video had ulterior motives (although some probably did)
And I also agree that if this was done to someone at night when they were alone it would be terrifying. Our Rainbow Twins born 17th April 2016
