Ha ha, caught.
Guess who wont be coming back to this thread :rotfl:0 -
Don't know about anyone else but i don't shop for the "experience" i shop because i have to. My mission is to get in and out as quickly and cheaply as possible.
I find every trip to the supermarket is an experience. I'm a voucher tart, so I shop in most of them (not Tesco though, ghastly).
Most supermarket shops are a bad experience; long queues at the check out (Lidl), can't find where anything is (Sainsbury's - yes, of course the rubber gloves are with the pet food instead of with the cleaning products), everything you want is out of stock (Morrison's).
Waitrose is generally a good experience; really good staff who go out of their way to help you, wide aisles, fast service at the checkouts from intelligent staff who engage with the customers instead of talking to each other.0 -

Like a lot of people have said, Waitrose isn't nearly as expensive as a lot of people perceive it to be. Their Essentials range isn't far off prices at other supermarkets and the quality is far superior. But then again, you've never been to one, so you couldn't possibly know their prices
Online shopping perhaps?
People can shop online and legitimately say they have never stepped foot in one.0 -
Sadly I prefer shopping elsewhere. The problem is Waitrose car parks have narrow bays. It's ok if you are an Asda yobbo driving a battered Ford KA but for a wide executive car, the spaces don't cut it.
It's a shame that Waitrose doesn't cater to their clientele's higher end, larger vehicles. They need to change that.
Asda is dreadful. The bright green gives me a migraine. Tesco is odd. Grown men in suits stacking tins of pedigree chum, all rather sad to watch.
Sainsbury's is quite good. Aldi and Lidl remind me of Ryanair. Loud East european voices, miserable low paid staff and queues longer than schindler's list.0 -

Why would someone do their entire weekly shop online with a Supermarket they have never set one foot into or experienced in the slightest?0 -
DH has just received his "MyWaitrose" card in the post this morning. It came with a couple of key fobs so I shall put one of them on my keyring and when I'm in Lidl, I can flash it around so that everyone in there will know that I'm shopping in Lidl [STRIKE]because I'm skint and a complete tightwad[/STRIKE] I choose to.
DH only applied for a card because he delivers stuff to our local store and he can grab a free coffee afterwards. I have personally never shopped in a Waitrose store, although I once did a mad lunchtime dash into the Canary Wharf branch, to see if a handbag that I'd spotted in the online sale, was there (it wasn't)
The staff there were lovely, unlike the scary, intimidating customers, all power suits and heavy make-up, rushing about like mad things. I don't think I looked the part, with my Primark kid's anorak and nylon trousers from the market haha!"I may be many things but not being indiscreet isn't one of them"0 -
I shop at Waitrose. They discount on 'yellow stickers/red stickers' really well. Most of my shoppijng = discount sticker stuff.
I go either really well dressed with my £250 leather biker jacket and £1k gold rope or in pyjamas (sainsbury £15 fleece and Mr T pyjama bottoms - I don't wear slippers - I do wear Celtic Sheepskin boots).
Nobody gives a second look.
I find the staff knowledgeable and polite and helpful. I love the recipe books which are for customers to look up on the meat/fish counter.0 -
I haven't found our local one snobby, I did however have to explain to two members of produce staff what calabrese is which was quite worrying, I hate to think what would have happened if I had uttered the word parsnip or swede!
A what??? I had no idea what calabrese is, but googled it and it's brocolli :rotfl:XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX:wave:XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX0 -
