I'll take you and adouglasmhor word for it, I haven't looked into it just vaguely remember reading something about it, but do remember it stating that the benefits may be overstated and the dangers understated, as I say no arguments from here, dont know enough about it0 -
Waitrose, like many stores these days, encourages customers to provide feedback. I took them at their word, and I e-mailed them with feedback about how difficult it was to find the My Waitress offers cited in an e-mail, and in their newspaper, in our local store. This was two weeks ago. All I have received back is an e-mail saying that they are investigating my complaint! A simple 'thank you for your feedback' would have been sufficient.
We've found our local store really good about this. We picked up their free magazine recently and we couldn't find some of the ingredients for one of the recipes in store. We mentioned this to a staff member and on our next visit, we noticed that they'd now got the items in. It shows that they do listen0 -
I recall a recent story I heard regarding a woman standing in a queue in Aldi. Apparently the person in question was speaking on her mobile and she was heard to say to the person at the other end of the phone "I am in a queue in Waitrose".
How snobby is that!!!0 -

It could well have been said as a joke, with the person at the other end knowing that the woman had switched allegiance from Waitrose to Aldi, as so many have apparently.
Rather like people who refer to Battersea as South Chelsea.0 -

I shop around quite a bit, Aldi, reduced things from Tesco and treats from Waitrose. My staple foods come from Aldi, as I just dont like being ripped off. But I also enjoy more unusual things and treats, so I go to Waitrose for that. So at Waitrose last night I picked up a couple of things, including reduced milk. I always check my receipt so noticed that they had charched me full price for the milk instead of the reduced one, I went back to customer service where the woman in charge had a bit of a snobbish vibe about it, just handed me change folded into the receipt and instantly ran off. Outside I noticed that she hadnt given me the right amount, there were 94p missing. Now I really didnt want to go back again, but Im wondering about their attitude. Ive noticed snobbish vibes from waitrose staff almost every time I shop there. Why is that? Is it because I dont buy my entire shopping there (I tend to spend about 10 quid per shop) or am I too young (early 20s, staff and most shoppers seem much older than me), or am I not dressed posh enough (Im not a slob, but dont tend to wear twead jackets)? It´s just starting to bug me, Im not imagining their attitude in case someone wants to suggest that, Ive been to all the supermarkets quite a few times and no where else did the stuff act snobbish. I dont like Asda, Tesco and Sainsburys all that much, but most staff have been lovely there, just to clarify that Im capable of picking these things up. I like my waitrose treats and want to continue getting them, but I hate their attitude! I really hope its just at my local branch! What experiences have you had?
Can you elaborate on these "snobbish vibes". I am curious.0 -
I haven't found our local one snobby, I did however have to explain to two members of produce staff what calabrese is which was quite worrying, I hate to think what would have happened if I had uttered the word parsnip or swede!0

Why are they inferior?0 -
Because they work in a shop, silly! Read the thread!
I had read the thread and my question was and remains unanswered. I was wondering why they are considered inferior?
Is it because they serve, is it because they tend to earn lower wages. Johnnytwostep seems to think he is superior, by implication, so again why does he think that?
Do you know?0 -
I don't shop at Waitrose very much because I just can't bear to pay their prices. But I did complain about an assistant at Aldi.., she was very rude and persisted in her attitude when I politely objected.
I received the normal 'we will look into your complaint' reply to my email.., but she seems to spend most of her time stacking shelves now. I suspect I wasn't the only customer who complained. Honestly, she really was very rude.0
