  • Goodness me, how can anyone think that Waitrose staff are "judging" them. These people work for a supermarket , most on zero hour contracts and minimum wage and they really are not judging anyone.

Bear in mind that the cashiers will be on close to minimum wage and are unlikly to have snobby attitudes

Waitrose pay seems to vary regionally, but in many areas is substantially more than NMW and up to £8.10 per hour. On top of this, the annual bonus is often around 15%.

They are, after all, a co-operative, with profits going to the staff.
  • Never had any problems in Waitrose.
Buying a jar of their cheapest coffee I was treated exactly the same (very well - staff are always polite and helpful ) as the person in front of me spending almost £300.

    Ignorance reigns.
    Ho hum.

op - this happened to me recently, dealt with simply, without your attitude.
Apples @rtc catchweight price had gone through at full price and the refund was incorrect, too.
Another time, with smiling courtesy, just ask for someone else and explain what's happened.
    Simple really.

There are studies that say it cause dental fluorosis, and it may also have a damaging effect on the brain, i'm sure there was more than that but that's all I can remember of the top of my head, memory aint what it used to be (have probably used to much fluoride :) )

Dental fluorosis is hardly the end of the world unless you have UV lights on all the time. And you are not going to get it from toothpaste, it requires excess dietary fluoride salts during tooth development.

But only in chronic overdose! Unless you regularly eat several tubes of fluoride toothpaste a day - it will only have a protective effect on the teeth. :D
    How to find a dentist.
    1. Get recommendations from friends/family/neighbours/etc.
    2. Once you have a short-list, VISIT the practices - dont just phone. Go on the pretext of getting a Practice Leaflet.
    3. Assess the helpfulness of the staff and the level of the facilities.
    4. Only book initial appointment when you find a place you are happy with.

I have noticed that the section of the population who abjure fluoride have a major overlap with the section of the people who will imbibe or apply colloidal silver without a qualm. Anti-science at it's best.

I love Waitrose and have never found it snobby. One of my biggest treats is going there and getting something posh out of the patisserie section as I find their desserts so much better than other supermarkets. I find everything so much better quality and some items are really interesting and which you don't find anywhere else. I'd shop there all the time if my budget stretched to it.
