Waitrose snobbery

Im not sure if this is the right place to post this, but I think its the closest fit for it.
I shop around quite a bit, Aldi, reduced things from Tesco and treats from Waitrose. My staple foods come from Aldi, as I just dont like being ripped off. But I also enjoy more unusual things and treats, so I go to Waitrose for that. So at Waitrose last night I picked up a couple of things, including reduced milk. I always check my receipt so noticed that they had charched me full price for the milk instead of the reduced one, I went back to customer service where the woman in charge had a bit of a snobbish vibe about it, just handed me change folded into the receipt and instantly ran off. Outside I noticed that she hadnt given me the right amount, there were 94p missing. Now I really didnt want to go back again, but Im wondering about their attitude. Ive noticed snobbish vibes from waitrose staff almost every time I shop there. Why is that? Is it because I dont buy my entire shopping there (I tend to spend about 10 quid per shop) or am I too young (early 20s, staff and most shoppers seem much older than me), or am I not dressed posh enough (Im not a slob, but dont tend to wear twead jackets)? It´s just starting to bug me, Im not imagining their attitude in case someone wants to suggest that, Ive been to all the supermarkets quite a few times and no where else did the stuff act snobbish. I dont like Asda, Tesco and Sainsburys all that much, but most staff have been lovely there, just to clarify that Im capable of picking these things up. I like my waitrose treats and want to continue getting them, but I hate their attitude! I really hope its just at my local branch! What experiences have you had?

I don't often shop in Waitrose as none is near so I cannot comment on snobbery. For other supermarkets I have found vast differences between staff quality at different branches of the same company.
The last time I visited Waitrose I failed to check my bill in store and later discovered that one of my items had been scanned twice. It was not worth the train fare to go back and complain.
If you had been overcharged at ASDA or Tesco the chances are that not only would you have got the correct refund you would additionally been given a goodwill gesture.0 -
I love my local Waitrose! Apart from the good quality of the produce, the staff are always friendly and helpful. Any mistakes have always been rectified promply and with apologies.
I'm surprised to read of your experience, SquirrelNutkins. Are you sure it's not your perception that was off kilter? Sometimes people see what they want or expect to see.[0 -

No, Im sure my perception is fine, but its of course down to which branch it is. I just wanted to know about other peoples experiences.0 -
I only went into Waitrose once, and that was for a mystery shop. Wouldn't have gone there again though as the person on the deli counter picked up my items without tongs or gloves0

Never experienced snobbery at any Waitrose I have been in.
I have always found them to be more human than many other stores.
But like anywhere some staff must have their off days I suppose.0 -
I can forgive them anything now I've seen this:

Aldi, Lidl, can you match that?0 -
I prefer Waitrose than any other, mainly due to the fact that they stock products none of the other supermarkets do. Such as Tom's toothpaste (which doesn't have that nasty fluoride in it) Virgin coconut oil, hemp milk, is another that sticks out. They do Kettle tortilla (best crisps I've ever had) so I tend to overlook the attitudes and get what I need to get.
Asda's at xmas is a different story entirely0 -

Thats brilliant. But to be fair, it was Saclas Shopera, not Waitroses. It would have worked in any supermarket.0
