  • O yes!! to getting rid of Cretin, I can't believe I was so stupid to even have this credit card I convinced myself and hubby it was in our interest to build a credit rating OMG how wrong was I be glad to see the back of it!!
I have only paid Bahclays what S/C had set up which was around £66 a month on the loan, and just over £10 on the overdraft I have until the 25th to decide whether to continue with these 2 payments but when actually wrote down they aren't actually OTT as between them they make up 50% of our total debts and at a push we could still get away with paying everything else we wanted too, so may be a case of don't rock the boat.

Back in work today, Christmas tree down and looking forward to a good de-cluttering later, I love everything about Christmas especially as I have finally gone 'tack' free and everything is beautiful but minimalistic, this obviously doesn't include my sons bedroom tree bless it was tacktastic this year, but once new year is looming it's time for it all to go back up the attic. Hubby also in work. We are so going to fall out over his alarm I am a one ring and up kinda girl, he is a snooze for 40 mins kinda fella, why???? Why would anyone prefer to have an alarm go off every 5 mins rather than sleep for an extra half an hour ?? Mind you I much prefer him working 9-5, as his 4.45am alarms really did cause arguments :)

Not a lot else happening apart from work next few days hubby is off and I am working new years eve day, we aren't going out as we are both working New years day day shifts and to be honest I really hate going out on New years eve, I would def prefer something nice to eat snuggled on settee and a bottle of good plonk. Obvious perk, no hangovers, no sore feet, no kissing drunken men :) no expensive bar bills no double time taxis home and plenty of overtime in next weeks pay !!.

O nooo !! your poor hubby

I got home today to a pile of sale pamphlets and catalogues, lucky its recycling day tomorrow :D straight in the bin.

But a nice letter of Bahclays agreeing with our offer of £16 a month with charges stopped for 12 months at least, which will give us enough time to get it cleared. Hopefully this will just leave our loan to clear, this I am in no rush to clear £66 they agreed to so that's what we will pay..

I think it will be early nights all round here lil un is yawning, hubby is snoring and I am flagging.. Christmas has shattered us all out !!!

  • Happy new years eve diary x

Thankfully it's not so cold here this morning, hubby and lil un snuggled in bed, hopefully thats where they will stay for a few hours, Hubby has just been ill he wasn't feeling well yesterday but I don't know if that's a case of him not looking after himself again being busy in work if he don;t make time for regular meals his IBS flares up or it could be a stomach bug going around. Hoping it's the latter but think this will scare him into sorting himself out in work eating too.

I just paid £150 off cretin so that balance is down to £400 now looking forward to seeing that gone by end of month !!

OMG I downloaded the free trial of YNAB I am in love already !!! whilst I find my way around it I am going to decide if it's worth the £22.50 over the next week or so, I am a numbers person so love the fact every penny can be tracked, also turning council tax into Robin Hoods tax made me smile lol

Right time for work again, People will be going crazy shopping round here, not me I will happily have whatever is in the freezer until after the new year x

  • Happy new year Diary x

Back in work again, thank goodness it's the last of my morning shifts this week as I am zonked, hubby and I were in bed last night by 10.30pm both of us had early shifts this morning so we didn't have a drink but we had a really lovely evening, he had to pop into work for an hour to lock up etc. so we had supper nothing extravagant and sat around chatting mainly about what we would like to happen for 2015 lots of family stuff ran parallel which was lovely to hear, my main goal is to stop planning and start doing. So I have at least started.
Although we are debt busting I have told boss I cannot do anymore night shifts on a Saturday night. The money is more than handy but it means I have to sleep Saturday evening and then in bed until Sunday lunchtime, as I have an eight year old this is the time I could be spending with him. And as I was meant to go back to work part time I don't feel that guilty about it. I know one of my colleagues is finishing so hopefully I will pick up one of her day shifts if not it will just add a few months onto my debt free date. Time with my son is more important to me!

MSE- I bought YNAB last night for a fab price of £7.49 was going to buy it anyway I am in love lol:) I know it is sad !!. I can see how if used properly I can see exactly where every penny is going, I am clearing credit cards for at least 6 months so every spare penny will be budgeted for but can really see how this can help plan and save in the future. I even paid my council tax this morning just so I could pop the transaction into it haha. I look forward to the day I am not waiting for next payday.

Spending time with your son is important,it's time you will never get back. Bosses will try and make you feel guilty, stay strong and keep your son in mind.

I think I need to look into this YNAB, job for tomorrow when I'm in work. :rotfl:

    Have a good day.x
  • Happy New Year Dragon :)

Don't blame you on wanting to spend more time with your son. Debtbusting is great and obviously we would all like to clear it as fast as possible, but there has to be a balance too and family is more important in my opinion.

Great news on getting YNAB so cheap too. I paid full price as no deals when I bought it, but it's been the best £30 I've ever spent. I love payday and getting on there to track whats going up (savings pots) and what's going down (loan). Also love the fact I can access and update it all from the app on my smartphone so always able to quickly check and see what I have in various pots before spending anything.

Hope work doesn't drag too much for you today

I've just had a good read of your diary. In all fairness you are very motivated. Great organisation and forward planning. I'm sure if you keep focused as you seem to be and sick to your guns where buying is concerned that debt will be gone really fast. Best news is you are managing to have a lovely quality of life whilst your doing it, balancing it all well. I've got an electric blanket that I snuggle up to as well lol, that's my bit of luxury! Thanks for calling over to me earlier x

  • Thanks everyone I really hope I am doing the right thing dropping a shift in work but it's the type of place there is always overtime and regular shifts so I will wait til the right one comes along.

I had an extra £50 in my pay today so will get that straight in the bank in the morning and I told hubby how close we are to clearing the Creation c/c and he said he has some cash upstairs to bank too so I need to swallow my stubborn pride and take it off him and bank that too, I know we have all benefited from hols and 'stuff' bought with the cards but I still blame myself completely for signing up for them and really struggle accepting help off him to clear them at least this time will be the last as I HAVE CUT THEM UP AND BINNED THEM MONTHS AGO!!!!!:D

So looks like that card will be gone tomorrow, so will decide what to pay off next I have 2 smaller debts one £135 and one £160 getting these paid off would def give me a boost knowing I can probably clear these two in January too, this would then just leave the big loan that I won't overpay on and the overdraft plus another catalogue that is getting token payments for foreseeable future - I hate the company and all it stands for!! and last but not least B/C card the much hated lil tinker :rotfl: this has a total of £1100 on so will be my Feb Target .. Interest is only about £8 a month on that so will just have to suck it up and get on with it.

The wind is howling here tonight rain lashing on the windows in lil old Wales, so nice to know I haven't got to get up at stupid o clock for work in the morning, I have just a 4-8 shift tomorrow evening which I don't mind at all. Boots sale is calling me as is card factory for sale bits but I just have to keep reminding myself, we are all benefiting from paying these cards off where as our lives will go on if we have cheap wrapping paper next year or not :D

Time for a last nose at YNAB and time for bed I am zonked I think hubby as fallen asleep putting DS to bed this happens nightly for whoever takes him lol his bed is new and sooooooo comfy!! I may just leave him in there and have the whole bed to myself tonight haha..
