I would complain anyway, if they haven't stopped charges or reduced interest now, there is no guarantee they will if you self manage. I will dig out the letter I sent to creation, if you do not get the right response, bearing in mind BC are known for not freezing interest then complain to the FOS online or by phone, costs you nothing and costs BC £500...

Maybe adapt this to suit your complaint..

    Your address

    Date

    Dear Sir/Madam

Re: **Credit Card – account details

Thank you for your statement concerning the above account. I am sorry that you feel unable to freeze interest and charges on this account.

As you are aware, I am in a DMP with Stepchange, reference number*** . The majority of my other creditors have agreed to the offer of payment and agreed to suspend any interest charges still accruing. They have accepted that to continue to charge interest would not assist me in my present financial difficulties, and can only serve to delay my efforts to repay this debt.

I have already paid considerable sums in interest to my account. If interest charges continue, the monthly instalments I am paying will onlyjust cover that interest. Also, the cooperation of my other creditors who havea greed to freeze interest already would be put at risk.

I am aware that you subscribe to the Lending Code which statesthat lenders will consider reducing or suspending interest and charges if these would cause the debt to increase or lead to the repayment term becoming too extended. I would therefore be grateful if you would reconsider your decision not to freeze the interest. This wouldmean that the monthly payments I make would actually reduce the balance outstanding to your company within a reasonable time period.

Please consider this letter as a complaint about the interest and charges you are continuing to apply to my account. I would like to see these stopped immediately.

If you are unable to help me with this issue,I will have no alternative but to take this case to the Financial Ombudsman Service.

I look forward to hearing from you as soon as possible.

    Yours faithfully

  • Well where has this week gone again, overtime is coming out of both our ears thankfully we have been able to do most around school hours or there about.

Hubby has grown so much this week I am so so proud of him he has stepped up into management so well bless him and has soared through a very tough week in work, crazy busy, hard to rally the gang when everyone is missing the former manager and him more than any she mothered him rotten !! But he has done it and done it brilliantly :)
Lil un has been spoilt silly for his birthday has had way over £150 cash plus vouchers and gifts, he has grown so much this last few months his freckles are growing out, his jawline has changed his teeth are changing :( I miss my baby !!! thankfully he is turning into a smart intelligent young man and lovely with it. His Christmas concert in school brought me to tears as per norm a school choir does it every time.. I met the new head for the first time and wow is she stern faced but very efficient and very lovely..

    Back to mse thingys...
I am seriously jittery now as regular monthly payments are coming out of our account the security of not having credit cards and overdraft there to use at will is worrying me, but the daft thing is we have more cash at home and L2S vouchers than we need to finish our shopping, we are still well into the black in our account so why am I feeling like this?? I have put away eldest boys cash and vouchers so they are all sorted, apart from bits and pieces box of chocs, funny boxers and such which I will pop out for tomorrow.. And then we are setting aside next Saturday as a day to go out for lunch with whoever wants to come and a wander round Cardiff with not a lot to buy... REMEMBER YOU HAVE 2 PAYDAYS TIL SANTA COMES YOU ARE NOT BRASSIC SO ENJOY THE FESTIVITIES !!!

I am 100% going self managed after Christmas now I am awaiting a new cheque book, I have letters printed out with CAB ref number ready on there yes there is going to be some odd letters and calls but heh ho I refuse to not sleep due to BC and such like not freezing interest and having SC paying less important debts off first, so the only way is to knuckle down and get on with it

BC is just over £1200.00 I am sure I can get that down to below £1000.00 before new year I am going to throw every unaccounted penny off it until clear.

I am also declaring war on my ironing pile tomorrow, I have lost all interest in face book so have decided to put all my efforts in decluttering and rearranging on my days off and as I have a houseful off scousers living with me I am praying for a win tomorrow so will blissfully not listen to the swearing for 2 hours and do my ironing :)

12 days till Santa comes please let him bring me a nice yankee jar and new slippers x

  • Another long long day, up early with the usual December call "Mam look what these elves have done!" Spent the day Christmas shopping and got most of what we needed I picked up a few gorgeous homey things at clearance prices from Asda living for my hubby to wrap up for me:D, Done a food shop in Aldi but bought lots of goodies and used up our £15 off voucher so haven't got a lot to get now and we have planned one last day shopping next week so lil un can spend his birthday money if he can find anything he wants.

Have a follow up vet check on our cocker tomorrow she is 100% again now so shouldn't need anymore tablets but if needs be and all that at least it's a non emergency apt this time and in a local vets not miles away.

Picked a fab a4 page a day diary for a pound today and have started gathering paperwork and bits ready to get started after Christmas, and have set aside a few hours one evening a week to do majority of debt busting.

School is very busy this week a school trip, a party, Christmas dinner, Christmas jumper day so lil un had an early night in readiness. Football match was cancelled this morning council called it off as pitches aren't draining after the rain this week. At least we never had to make excuses this morning.
    10 days til Santa :rudolf:

  • 9 sleeps til Santa x and 8 more days to shop or rather avoid to shop!!

We got everything out last night Christmas wise apart from 2 footballs and football shorts and maybe some cheapy stocking bits for my youngest, plus a pair of trainers for my middle son I think we are done. I also have decided to send a Next order back so that will recoup £34 and also some bits that wasn't right sizes to asda direct another £35 back so hopefully I can finish our shopping with that £69 then we have a food shop to do and we are finished, although I would really love to get my eldest a soup maker so will see.
I am working 5/10 days left so hopefully I can pay a few hundred off a debt this side of Christmas !!

My main target debt is going to be my Creation card it has £825.25 and I am going to pay the minimum payment on it tonight not to incur a missed payment as I have the last two months with S/C ! I am so annoyed for sitting back thinking S/C had sorted all our problems when really they hadn't they had taken the worry and stress out of the situation but we are still daily getting letters and bills for non payment and late payment £12 charges on all apart from Marisota which are probably giggling at getting a huge chunk of our monthly payments well that is all over, this months payment goes to the creditors on 25th of December OOOOO Christmas day !! so will be covered until the 25th January but will get token payments out to Marisota and Moorcroft but pay minimum on argos and Barclaycard I refuse to let the debts grow for another month.

So as I said £825 is my magic number !!

My lil un has a pantomime trip today locally, and football club tonight so hoping hubby will take him so I can finish cleaning bedrooms through be nice to get completely straight at home again the flu knocked me out completely a few weeks ago so still catching up with everything now.
Tomorrow is Christmas jumper and dinner money in school, and Thursday a Christmas party. Friday is breaking up day, Saturday is shopping day so he can spend his birthday money and vouchers, and Sunday is collapse day before we start again next week. He also has 2 Christmas parties and I would really love to get a few hours alone to go for a nice meal with hubby one evening before Christmas !!

  • Well my house is a happy bombsite. Lil un had everything he wanted and far more, I had some beautiful things for the home and smellys slippers socks lots of cash and other bits off hubby, perfume and housy bits off my sons had a lush breakfast buffet, had a lush dinner no rows a lazy afternoon and my son never even dressed all day it was just fab !!!

I am in blooming work at mo so decided to catch up on finances and work on a plan for at least January, I have had a think last few days about challenges for new year I am not going to make silly decisions regarding starving us all to clear the debts immediately but I am not going to join a dozen savings challenges and end up failing drastically on them all, my main aim is to clear debts but I do need to start an emergency fund plus save for Christmas and Birthdays. The emergency fund is a priority and although we have replaced all white goods and recently redecorated there are obviously things that will eventually need replacing. We don't drive so thankfully we don't have that worry plus both work locally within a 10 min walk so travel costs are low.

I have made a start on out Cretin C/C it did have a balance of £817 I had to clear the £17 odd numbers owing drive me bonkers plus just paid £100 off it too as have cash sat in account not earmarked for anything so better to pay off cretin than spend on 'stuff' in the sales. Had a little wangle here and there plus with putting the cash I had for Christmas and what's hanging around in the house in the bank next open day I can get there I can afford to clear this off on or around the 6th January. So that will be one creditor gone plus we will pay min payments on everything else in January.

Anything extra earned will be paid into emergency fund for January My goal for that is £1000 over the year, so at least we have a bit of a cushion if need be.

I know it is really sad but I love starting to take little amounts of Christmas decorations down from here and there from boxing day my lovely welsh dresser is target for tomorrow I hate it cluttered and it is still very new and lovely to me (bought second hand in November) We haven't got loads up in the lounge either just mantle piece window and our tree up the tree is fine its just the rest of junk and cards that drive me crazy, so once I have had a sleep I will have a good polish and steam through, hubby wants to go out tonight and as much as I want to say nooooooooo I think I will make a proper effort and book a nice meal somewhere. I always make excuses not to go so new year resolution is a once a month date night...

Aloofdragon, stick with S/C and all will be sorted. When I first started with them it took a good 4 months for the letters to stop (except for Halifax who still insist that I need to 'contact them urgently to arrange a finance review').

It can take a while for it to sink-in to the creditors that you are on a DMP with S/C.
In fact, it has taken a year for one of my creditors to realise and stop charging me a late payment fee.
Mind you, I was on a TMP up until Dec. '14 and this carries less weight than a DMP.
    Never Knowingly Understood.

  • Hiya Patman x I think if S/C didnt have my payment ratios so randomely set I would but as they are paying DCA with no interest accumulating more than my creation and barclaycard which are gaining min payment fail, interest, plus an extra twelve pound a month for the pleasure of letting me know I will be getting nowhere fast, I feel self managed at this time at least until the 2 cards and argos are cleared or hopefully 2 cards cleared and argos gone to a Dca... Thanks for the advice though I need it x
