  • Finally got around to doing a food shop online I just loathe to do it if I don't have a voucher of some kind but found one for sainsbugs £20 off a £60 spend so fine with that as don't really need an awful lot so added a 3 bird roast for Christmas day as it is our fav we have tried a butchers crown cost us £40 we have tried farm fresh turkey again £40ish we have frozen crowns and turkeys from everywhere and enjoyed just as much as the fresh cooked Phil Vickerey style they're all lush but the 3 or 4 in1 roasts are fab no mess no waste cheap as chips as we are cooking for ourselves this year we are doing exactly as we please !! Also 6 bottles of sainsbugs rose cava knocked down to £6 a bottle and buy 6 get 25% off this is gorgeous so 1 for us and 5 for gifts 6 bottles for £25 !!! Whole order came to £69 but will be good and take total sum from my grocery fund instead of pretending the Christmas stuff paid for itself. Will add total to Sig when it arrives tomorrow x

  • Morning diary, wow mornings surely do come around really quick!!

Had a busy evening wallpapering last night hall looks fab now bright and cheery got a mirror to go back up and a few shelves over the radiator and we are done :D. I have everything here so no extra expense.
Tonight is football club so will have a quick tea and a tidy through after work, take DS down there and have an early night I am still zonked and not getting enough sleep so decided that when hubbys in work in the evenings il snuggle in bed and watch tele has to be more mse having elec blanket on rather than the heating huh.
Done a few bags of Christmas wrapping yesterday and haven't really got an awful lot but not going mad this year we are really cutting things down so will make a list of things left to get as would like to get it finished this month before we go away we have a pile of l2s vouchers to use up so will be on the hunt for bargains. Right time for work so will catch up later.

  • Wow where an earth has the week gone again??.. Well first payment has come out of SC so everyone contacted 4 out of 7 have accepted the lower payments with no further interest to add Barcleees sent a default letter today so at least they have acknowledged the lower payment even the dreaded Creation has lowered interest to 0.5% for a year so all going in the right direction DMP wise.
Work on the other hand is absolutely bonkers I have gone from part time to full time hours with overtime thrown into the loop we have decided not to put the extra funds into the DMP as it isn't going to be available fulltime so we are using the money to decorate and replace things that need replacing number one is my sons new bed and decorating his bedroom and the best bit is no credit card we actually have the money for this in the bank, Christmas is very nearly covered now need to pick up some clothes and some bits for my middle son then I am done and we still have our vouchers here so on the right road. DS bed is being delivered Saturday so we are emulsioning his 3 walls and putting a mural on the 4th his bedding is tumbling as we type so all hands on deck next few days. We still have the kitchen walls to tidy up but its time we need more than anything..

Sometimes I really want to strangle my hubby I have just told him we have over a thousand pound I have built up last few weeks in our bank and he still didn't smile for gawdddddddddds sake this time 6 weeks ago we had letters flying through the door phones ringing constantly for money we had no cash whatsoever and was over £800 n the overdraft in fact considering I get paid weekly and I put every penny in the bank I think I have done bluddy fab !! hmm !!! I know I am still spending but I am spending on what needs replacing and once things are done I will have one almighty clean through and then that is it.

Lunches are taken to work, I walk instead of bussing to work even in this lousy weather and I don't smoke and don't drink so I am trying. !!

  • OMG someone please take my broadband away so I can stop blooming shopping I have desperately gone back to my old ways, but only good thing is I am not spending on my credit cards or store cards as they are all gone, all our bills are being paid but my saving and NSD head has been completely changed on the plus side we have now finished decorating right through little un has a new bed a gorgeous bedroom and I have revamped my kitchen I am awaiting some bits and bobs bought with my clubcard vouchers and some other bits bought with a £25 tesc0 card I had free with Sky and have actually not paid out for anything full price for Christmas whatsoever BUT I MUST STILL STOP BLOODY SPENDING !!!!

We have £800 put away for hols we are only going for 5 nights so hoping to bring a fair chunk home to put back into Christmas fund, and we also still have £370 of l2s vouchers for any gifts we need to buy so will be fine through December the DMP is going just fine all balances are lower than last month which was a huge worry for me and on a good note we are in the black in the bank so worrying un-necessarily but I know I feel I have to explain every parcel coming through the door even tho it's mostly been paid for out of vouchers... I am in work solidly now til Monday morning so will aim for 3 NSD there to start with.

  • Well I am grabbing a quiet hour in work to check in on some diaries and update.. I actually managed somehow to not spend a penny today even though I had a basket full online in tesc0 ... Will we not survive til Christmas if I don't stock up on meat for Christmas this very week? will my son feel deprived if I don't buy the 3for1 selection boxes, as if they won't be reduced again before Christmas somewhere ? I just need to stop the squandering and prioritise this damned debt and stop with the nonsense..

Today has been a good day I have worked an extra shift overtime but the money is earmarked for Euro Disney next week but at least it isn't money we need to put on a card. And only one more shift after this one until a day off Monday which I am looking forward too immensely.
Tomorrow will be a NSD too as got nothing planned apart from sleeping and giving the house a good blitz ready for my mother in law staying up with our dog and hamster next weekend while we are away, I have been nagging hubby for a copy of his new rota out now he is taking over the managers job at work and wow the jammy devil is off most weekends so got something to work off now to sort childcare out thank goodness my son loves breakfast club at school as we will be using it a lot more now he is starting at 9 but I am home Monday and Friday so won't be every day in fact both our rotas have changed significantly over the last week or two and definitely for the better I am Tues, Wed, Thur days and Sat and Sun nights so for the first time in absolute years we are actually going to be able to be at home most evenings together. A blessing for my son for sure.

Well it's 5 days til payday we are still in the black, still have our hol money separate in an esavings account, and for the second month running have money at the end of the month but I have realised the last few days I still have spent way over what I should have as I have done a lot of overtime so I am going to start using my pay to take care of my old credit union loan which has a ccj sat on it on noddle for £3500 but I actually owe £1300 on it now so this will be my main aim after Christmas, plus I have a studio account that has £58 owing I will clear this Friday as soon as paid although its a piggly little account whilst it is open it is calling me to spend hubby thinks I could leave it open as they do have some good deals etc but it is just too much of a drawer so I will close this account Friday. And I have decided that anything left over from holiday spends will be split 50/50 half to the Christmas fund and half to the credit union loan. I also need to make a payment to park hampers this side of Christmas to bring my payments down for next year ... So I feel I have a little plan and feel more in control again for it.

  • Just found your diary Aloof so have subscribed. Sounds like you are doing really well :)

It's such a slog paying down debt isn't it. I've had debt since I was 18 when I first took out a loan, and have had a variety of overdraft/credit card/consolidation loan/HP since then. I'm 33 now and my final loan payment goes out 4 months before I turn 34. Almost 16 years of having some sort of debt. Everytime I got remotely close to paying it off, I ended up taking on more for something else.

Lesson learned now, and a new focus now I have my son and soon-to-be-here daughter. We are hoping to plough everything into saving for a mortgage deposit instead of debt so we can finally buy our own home in the next 4-5 years :)

  • Thank you both I am trying but don't suppose I can be 100% focused until we are back from Euro but then all guns blazing,I am a bit of a number addict with no patience which has to change sharpish if I am going to get to the end of the road... I am going to cancel studio one less thing to stress about.

Had 3 hours sleep before I got up to have dinner before hubby went to work so yawn yawn yawn !! had a lovely lazy afternoon tho with DS paint glitter pva sprinkles and Christmas films just lovely.. One last shift tonight then a day off and 3 busy days shifts before 9 days off YAY !!! wow never sat and counted the days off til now so happy, plus just seen on F/B that argos 3 for 2 are back on on toys so can finish my presents off before we go away we have loads of L2S vouchers left to use up so will be at no cost from bank so another plus...
My DS and myself are totally full up with this cough and cold going round my ribs are throbbing and all behind my shoulder blades are shocking !! He has had it for nearly 2 weeks solid and even with wrapping up in cotton wool cough meds and regular paracetamol he still is snuffling and coughing so so hope he is better before the weekend 11 hours on a coach feeling lousy will be no fun for either of us.
Right time to shift after just sobbing my heart out in Christmas film lol xx

Well jealous of your Disney trip and 9 days off!
