I have a different view again... same sized family, same sized house. In Hull, Band A, in the £900s. Cheapest 3 bed in Herts (Stevenage) Band C, over £1300. The minimum wage is the same everywhere, so why have a system that penalises the average family in the south?

    Possible reasons:
    - Things the council have to pay for are more expensive Stevenage compared to Hull (e.g. but not limited to wages)
    - They figure they can get away with it because people will have to pay it (housing costs in general are more expensive in Stevenage than in Hull, I'd guess non-minimum wages are too)

Not saying it's fair, but there you go...

...and we're back to looking at people poorer than ourselves...

I'd pay more than £400 more to live in Herts over Hull :o

I'm grumpy this evening. It shows.

Where would the NP's personalities fit best in the country?

Not sure why they've invested our licence fee in this, but nevermind!

Best place: Craven (which is really quite close to where I was born, not lived there since I was 1 though)
    Worst place: Newnham

I got 5/10 on the British/ Belgian quiz. Mainly guesswork so not really surprising!

    I can't wait to get there. I will have a party :j
I will go to sleep knowing it is all mine, and wake up knowing I am truly choosing to get up and go to work.

I am doing what I can to bring that date forward. This time next week I'll have paid off 10% of my mortgage, 18 months in, meaning I'm on schedule to clear it within 15 years - half the original term. I'd be extremely happy with that :)

    Congrats Wheezy!

Have you got /can you get an offset mortgage? You may have better options than simply paying it off early.

I had a go this morning. I got 'North West Leicestershire' and my worst was Newham as well. I'm not sure what's in Leicestershire at all, apart from Leicester.

Haven't got - 3.5 years of a fixed mortgage to go. Kinda wish I'd not fixed for so long, but I wanted peace of mind. Not convinced I'd get a big enough mortgage at the moment anyway due to MMR (still quite high loan: salary).

Will think about it when my fix ends. I'd still have a party when I became mortgage neutral :)

I don't suppose one would have to pay council tax there either. Perfect! :D
