Well done Wheezy, especially as you only just moved a few years ago I seem to remember.

We technically reached the same status on 9th January but I have to admit to finding it equally underwhelming and certainly not life changing even by one iota :(
    I think....

I scored a somewhat piffling 5 out of 10. Oops.
I scored 8/10 without knowing any of the answers, but simply choosing one asap.

I wish I were mortgage free on a £2million house ....then I could downsize and still have a fabulous house and £1million in the bank to spend on doing stuff etc.

Mortgage free on a £1m house would suit me fine, don't forget after the election the 'mansion' tax on the 2m house will be more than most of us could afford each year.
    I think....

I've never understood why the council tax bands stopped dead at such a "low" amount .... seemed mad that the Queen's council tax if she lived in Buck House alone wouldn't be much more than I'd pay in a caravan.

I have the opposite view. Why should someone who chooses to spend their money on their home be penalised against someone who spends the same money on fancy holidays/ designer goods/ fine wines?

Same number of people in a house, using the same council services, same size wheelie bin.... yet they pay loads more.

Never having owned a mansion, not knowing anybody who owns one and on the basis I'll never own one, I've never read anything about the mansion tax.

Out of vague interest, if one had a house worth £2million how much would that be?

"Under its plans, Labour has said most people who own homes worth between £2m and £3m will pay £250 a month in extra taxes while owners of homes worth "tens of millions" and second home owners would pay much higher rates."

Just to add, my home is nowhere near £2m, so no vested interest to declare.

Mm. Who says that people who can afford expensive houses don't spend their money on flash luxuries and people who can't afford it, do?

We'll end up on topic here, but I can't see how targeting the poor really helps.

    I can't wait to get there. I will have a party :j
I will go to sleep knowing it is all mine, and wake up knowing I am truly choosing to get up and go to work.

I am doing what I can to bring that date forward. This time next week I'll have paid off 10% of my mortgage, 18 months in, meaning I'm on schedule to clear it within 15 years - half the original term. I'd be extremely happy with that :)

    Congrats Wheezy!
