I am apparently best off moving to Hertsmere. I knew I am really an Inner Herts person. No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0

It's only worth comparing English areas though, due to different systems elsewhere.
Not sure why Westminster is such an outlier... My guess is that it gets a significant amount from other sources. Do business rates go into local or central coffers?
Central I think? Didn't they announce last week that Greater Manchester and Cambridge (not sure if anywhere else) were going to get their business rate money for the first time?
Edit: though I think the number of residential properties in westminster is relatively small so perhaps don't need so many eg refuse collections (do businesses arrange this privately?)0 -

You can get a badge if you want one.I can't wait to get there. I will have a party :j
I will go to sleep knowing it is all mine, and wake up knowing I am truly choosing to get up and go to work.
I am doing what I can to bring that date forward. This time next week I'll have paid off 10% of my mortgage, 18 months in, meaning I'm on schedule to clear it within 15 years - half the original term. I'd be extremely happy with that
Congrats Wheezy!
Well done so far, Nikkster! :TDo you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -

Which airport is this LiR?
Just curious as to why they won't allow a dog in, although airport management companies are a law to themselves.💙💛 💔0 -

Windy and wet here today. Glad I did the washing yesterday/early as I had it on the airer by the open door most of the day so 90% of it's 90% dry.0

I've found an answer! It's because Westminster is able to raise so much revenue from parking charges:

Runcorn Band B is £1112 p.a., I suspect that Runcorn and Stevenage rates are much the same, though I'd put Runcorn on a par with Hull.Doozergirl wrote: »...and we're back to looking at people poorer than ourselves...
I'd pay more than £400 more to live in Herts over Hull
I'm grumpy this evening. It shows.
I'd rather live in Runcorn than Stevenage, and I know both quite well. They are both New Towns.I'd be best off in Fylde and worst in Eilan Siar. Never heard of either.
The best view in Stevenage:
Yup, it's the road to London.
That was my worst place as well, best place was Hart in NE Hants. Fylde is up by Blackpool , it's quite posh.
There is one good thing about that photo, just turn your head left, no a bit more and look back a bit..that's it, bugslets nice trucks can be seen from the A1.;)

My lips are swollen again. Not as much and not quite as perfectly symmetrically but about the amount I would have them done if I were ' doing my lips' ( which I wouldn't do). Its a fun game this. Its like the stuff you see people doing on a computer screen when they try different size enhancements on pictures on themselves, but I' doing it for real. Much more fun! (Though my lips feel scratchy). I'm not convinced its not a bite or something. It feels different to an allergy swelling and my bottom lip isn't involved at all. The only similar feel is the slight tingly/very mild burning stretchy feeling of the stretch of the swelling. Doesn't explain why it went up a bit again over night though.
Oh well, its fun..

I would point out that the council tax in Westminster is ridiculously small compared to other areas.
Westminster band D £681.68
Richmond band D £1,490.60
Where I live, band D £1,626.67
Where my sibling lives, band D £1,512
I doubt there is a property in Band D in Westminster. If there is, I'm pretty sure the average property is not a Band D.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards.
