@ Viva - hope your family is going to be okay. The incoming storm looks like a biggie and increasing in strength faster than expected.

Thanks Gen. Hopefully it is going to come ashore north of them. It won't be good if it hits direct. My cousin has recently (a few months back) moved to the beach front:eek: and they would take a direct hit from any storm surge. She and husband are both emergency service (nurse and paramedic) so they always have to work. My uncle is about 30 miles inland, but if its anything like last time the roads between the two will be cut.

Mum is speaking to my uncle tomorrow so I'll hopefully hear he's prepped.

Not orthodox, but Jewish. Not sure what to do tbh. No one to give guidance specific to them contactable. Difficulty with addresses and where people are for cards too. Yes was hoping GDb might see. Thought you might possibly have social cross over with the area. :o. Felt giving better than not giving?

Without knowing the people concerned my general guidance would be to go by the cemetery - if it's a "united" or "federation" cemetery then don't sent flowers, if it is "liberal" or progressive" then they may be more appreciated. I wouldn't sweat about it too much, everyone understands that some people feel a need to send flowers and wouldn't be offended to receive them. In your shoes and feeling cautious I may be more inclined to send them to the bereaved rather than the cemetery.

BTW... no plumber, no plumber's van, so he's not been in the area all day today.... all I can hope for is that when he arrives home, after a 14 hour day, I get a mention and he pops over. Otherwise, it's another day waiting.

Haven't had a bath and no washing up's been done :)

Do you have any electric heaters?

I have heating and hot water. It''s the lower, small, grey plastic things - both of them....not the bigger, black, ones that were looking more likely.

He said "Oh no, you don't want to touch those black ones, that's not what you want". Took him 10 seconds to do it.

    :j

Great news PN. Told you 20 secs tops!

Edit: hopefully next time you'll feel more confident to have a go yourself :)

Thanks......this really helps. You are very kind , thank you for your help.

Bereaved is not at home, not sure who staying with. This is why sending a note has proven hard. could send note to one party, will create war if other party doesn't receive note on same day........All very complicated. Lots of cross ness and terrible hurt and sadness abounding. I'm not in a position to go, which is a shame because for one of these I really would. But tbh, the ripples of emotion are something I feel comfortable staying away from.

Yes, thanks. Bloods tomorrow. Try and see if I can get a bit less easily knocked......checking health status and deficiencies to see where my supplementation is failing and if its something we can bolster. If I can just find my normal grit I can suck it up.

Worst will settle down when estate is settled I guess. that doesn't involve us :D. Plenty to go round there, but won't stop people griping about it. Sad, sad.

I was at a non-orthodox Jewish funeral at the crematorium recently, and there was not a flower in sight. I imagine that varies, though.

I will ask DW about florists, as I am not good about cut flowers.

I bought DW a bunch of daffs for our wedding anniversary and had them delivered as part of the Ocado order. I find the whole concept of putting dying flowers in the house slightly odd, and of course as soon as you cut them they are dying.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?
