My lips get really chapped in winter (doesn't help that I bite them :I). I've also had to start sleeping with socks on my hands, after applying generous amounts of moisturiser, because they were in a but of a state too. Looking forward to spring

I bite mine too. I have quite good phases when I don't bite them at all for ages, but once they get dry, there are little bits that tempt me to bite them, and then that makes it worse...
My hands are usually fine, but my feet get very dry, and so do my elbows. I am not very good about moisturising them at all.
Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. (Link permitted by forum team)
Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

I made dumplings last night with a stew/casserole thing. I made it too late and it took too long to eat last night - I'd have been ravenous by the time it was ready - but looking forward to having some tonight. I used to do it with pork but used turkey this time because DS doesn't eat mammals, and then added carrot, parsnip, swede, sweet potato, butternut squash, leek and tomatoes.
Do you do dumplings with suet? I did a while ago, but not any more. I've decided I prefer the taste of ones made from my mum's recipe, which uses margarine instead.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? We had dumplings made with suet on Saturday with Chicken casserole. DD made it, it was delicious. I had the gravy from the casserole crushed new potatoes mashed swede one small sage dumpling.
Last night we had beef in beer and puff pastry triangles to imitate steak and ale pie. I had mash potatoes, sprouts, gravy and half a triangle.
OH was back from Philiadelphia where every lunch or dinner was steak or a burger with no veg.H asked for veg and got two carrots one night.
We have also had a lot of fruit salad
on Friday we had lemon sole It was lovely and very easy to eat. DDs bf was sous chef. I was going to buy plaice but the fish were small so had sole which was twice as much per kg.0 -
Got home tonight to an envelope marked 'npower' - goody, I thought. Must be the letter confirming my account was closed and fully paid up.
Shows how optimistic and naive I can be - it was a reminder that I owed them £50. This £50 is a credit that was supposed to be applied to my account on November 24th, and that I've made 2 calls about since then.
Ironically, this £50 was a goodwill gesture due to their handling of another complaint which was generated following a call to try to resolve one of the many problems they presented me with last year. It was passed to the complaints department who never contacted me to discuss it. A couple of months later I received a letter along the lines of 'as per our conversation, we've closed your complaint'
The lady I spoke to today seemed to have worked out why this credit hadn't been actioned (great), but suddenly became rather less helpful when I asked to register a complaint. Apparently a manager will have to call me back.
I've never done this before, but pending tomorrow's phone call (I'll be amazed if it even happens) I think I might write a letter to the CEO (or more likely his admin team). Never even been tempted to do anything like that before.
It'll be quite long as I've had a LOT of problems in my dealings with npower. I'm not even after money (though I wouldn't say no). I'd just like an acknowledgement that it has all been their fault (I don't think anyone tried as hard to get a company to take money from them as I did), some kind of explanation as to what has happened and what they are doing to stop it happening again. I think it will be rather therapeutic.0 -
Had a scan last week and no obvious reason for jaundice, so will have more blood tests.
Weight loss and reflux unlikely to be linked to jaundice so having a gastrosopy tomorrow. I weighed 8st 9lb last week with BMI of 22.5.
Have lost more this week but not weighed my self. Need to keep weight on now. skin like rhino hide from jaundice, including cracked lips which is not a problem I usually get.
Good luck Spirit. All that weight loss doesn't sound good at all.0 -
Hope Generalissima is feeling better now, Gen, and that you find out what's going on, Spirit.
I had my 'big' practical assessment today, presenting a 40 minute training session to the rest of the group. The 2000 word overview and all associated documents had to be completed by Friday last week and uploaded in advance.
It went really well, better than I feared and no panic attacks. I'd taken some tablets to help with some symptoms and it helped, I think.
There's still a couple more assessments and a webinar to go, so another 4-6 weeks yet, but I can't actually believe we've had our last workshop. This course has been all-consuming for so long that the end has never been in sight. Another few weekends and it'll all be behind me.

That's great Yorkie
Well done for sticking with it in spite of your anxieties around it. 0 -

The Girl was sound asleep when I left this morning. She can't go to school as she was puking in the day yesterday and it's meant to be 24 hours til she goes to school. I confess we don't always follow that but we do make an effort to.0 -
Secular stagnation
I always used to chuck the word "secular" into these kind of discussions.
Always made me laugh to watch the faces of the Spot dealers as they tried to work out what it meant.
Yield has always been the ultimate goal of investors, so in today's climate it makes sense to think that the only place to get some will be dividends.'In nature, there are neither rewards nor punishments - there are Consequences.'0
