BMI is a good indicator, except for hardened athletes - but the fatties use "Oh BMI's not an indicator" to excuse the fact they're, well, fat.

BMI is a good indicator - as is the amount of belly overhang you know you've got (even when you breathe in).

I'm at the top of the BMI scale, I wear size 8/10 jeans most of the time. I get heavier the further up I go and am definitely an apple shape, gathering weight in the middle. I can fool myself some of the time... but, I ultimately know, I could do with losing a bit more. On the other hand - I won't as I'm fine as I am and just aware that I'm not the most svelte like I could be.

If you eat too much and/or exercise too little, then 99% of the time you'll be overweight. That's a fact of life. There are few people who are genuinely the size they are PURELY due to medical reasons; most fatties use those people's situation to explain their weight, while we all know they secretly eat too many pies because we've seen what they eat and we know they're eating too much. They just fool themselves into believing what they eat is normal portions and 'healthy'. Adding a side salad to a plate of chips doesn't make it healthy!

I think it's something worth doing for yourself - and to capture the family meal moments of your life now. It'll become a legacy for your children at some future point, if nothing else. It'll also give you something to focus on.

Whether it's a saleable item or not isn't necessarily the point. As you have an income it doesn't need to be - and the learning curve, experience and process might yield something else that you can turn your hand to that then makes the money, iyswim.

Sometimes going through the process of doing one thing makes your brain clunk into gear and you suddenly realise the real Genius Plan.

Mrs Generali bought a tray of mangos and a bag of oranges the other day so I made mango and orange sorbet. Nom, nom, nom.

I think someone (LIR/Viva? LIR I think) suggested when I had cancer that I write a family cookbook. What do people think about that? Presumably I could self publish via pdf or something.

No idea who suggested it, but think its a bloody good idea. :)

Note: photos make cookbooks as much as the food, and good styling. Putting photos in something self published on amazon is fine. :)

Talking about weight... .loss of 1.5lbs this week bringing the total to 12lbs now.

I've found a way to do some gentle exercise that doesn't make my joints too eek although it is having an impact on my neck (which is normally fine!). It is more about doing a very short session (literally a minute or less), a few times a day while seated or supported whilst standing rather than the high impact stuff I used to do. It's not much but better than nothing .
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.

But michaels is still right. Healthy weight is only one indicator of doing good body maintenance. Its generally healthier for women to be slightly ( SLIGHTLY) heavier than slightly lighter. Obesity is tremendously unhealthy, :(. But lack of fitness is worse. The two do not necessarily go hand in hand.

The recent ad for encouraging women to do physical activity shows not slim women whose bmi is possibly not ideal for a reason, to show that all can exercise and enjoy it and benefit. A chunkier active person is going to be healthier than a lighter not exercising person in many, many cases.

think we need to be more life stylist ( what people eat, what they do) than fattist. But it takes a little more consideration and has fewer one liners that go with it.

I don't know what that means.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anschluss

"The Anschluss was the annexation of Austria by Nazi Germany in March 1938."

In our case, it is just the en suite bathroom, rather than a whole country. DW emerges after a long time, pretty much ready to go out of the house, and then is surprised that I am not washed and ready to go. :)
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

We use the bathroom at the same time, wandering in and out and stuff. Very Occasionally we take a shower alone, more him than me....for example, on Sunday evenings or Monday mornings when he has to and I don't have to and don't want to. :D . Sometimes I just wander in the bathroom grab the tooth brush wander out and do my teeth while doing other stuff like getting underweR together for the pair of us, or so etimes he does that while I put make up on.

A combined effort at getting ready definitely saves time. ( fir takes ages to get ready though, he has limited sense of urgency)

I always thought that a man's right to the en-suite was limited to the time it wasn't in use by the lady. By definition there are other bathroom(s) in the house you can use.

It wasn't just viva. We're waiting for the book, Gen!

It's very easy to self-publish via Amazon and iTunes, if you know how. I know people that have done it, without publishing a 'real' book.

I want a real book, though.

I don't have any 'interview clothes'. Not bought any new 'work clothes' for about 15 years - always done mix/match and picked up some random bits and bobs from charity shops over the years.

If I got a call right now I'd worry that what fitted/was passable would look bizarre in the weather. But I'd probably wear: Some £10 trousers I bought from Peacocks in 2007 and a £2 yellow top from a charity shop and some £4 court shoes from a charity shop and a £4 charity shop jacket I bought in 2008. I'd look passable if they weren't fashionistas :)

Need a hair cut too.... and some new makeup. Current makeup I think I bought in 2004 for about £2.

I've got a skirt I got in a posh ladies shop in the sale about 4 or 5 years ago (reduced from £80 down to a tenner or thereabouts) and a nice blouse which looking at my Facebook photos is at least 4 years old and was again bought in the sales for less than a tenner.

They both looked ok at the interview I went to nearly 2 weeks ago, so much so the lady interviewing me thought I would know nothing about the sector as I looked too 'posh' to holiday in a static caravan. Found out on Friday at my WFI that I could have had a voucher towards buying clothes for the interview...couldn't see the point myself, I have a perfectly good, nice and smart outfit already.
