    Enjoy your dinner.

I wish. I had a "beginners poke and taste" about 45 minutes ago - tastes lovely, but it's still got about another 2 hours to run :)

Aw, thanks FC. Friend is just round the corner ( but thought he didn't work on Fridays, turns out he does now) so he'll have it.

The lure of dumplings was too much. Relented and decided I could squeeze 1-2 small ones in the pot. So they're made and ready to drop into the pot in about 45 minutes' time.

Still no idea what I'll have, except, I have a nasty habit of "own food, eat food", so, once I own a hot veggie stew with meatballs and dumplings and some mashed spuds ... with peas in the freezer, I suspect I'll need a big/deep bowl to serve dinner in :) I won't be able to choose and won't be able to stop myself from being an utter, utter, pig.

Can I suggest getting into the habit of freezing som e portions for later consumption? One of the reasons you put off cooking was so you didn't get bored eating same food in a row. Its So GREAT to see you cooking and enjoying good sounding food. :). Really happy for you, but bet that veg stew and a meat ball or two would be great in a fortnight with a couple of fresh dumplings?

It saves pigginess at the time and will eventually give your week more variety of food, something you've often suggested you find hard. :)

Your supper sounds perfect for the dull day today has been. :)

I am testing gas and electric monitors.

The idea is that you can see how much you are using at any time and monitoring encourages you to reduce usage.

Was fiddly to set up but now seems to be working. "Working" as in I can see what I am using, not as in reducing consumption. Early days, open minded.

I should say that I got it free to trial.

One of our electric suppliers gave us a monitor about 4 years ago, I suspect we played with it for about a day and got bored....I don't restrict usage but do sometimes check efficiency of devices that get a lot of use, for example I changed the PSU on the PC we run 24/7 as that paid for itself in a year.
    I think....

So happy PN, you sound so enthusiastic. :).

Meanwhile, I'm sticking to water tonight. I did have so e crackers earlier and it was sufficient.

I think I might turn sparkley corner apart int he next few weeks. I'm tired of the top part of it which is a poor fit but fir will be sad because he's not that keen on change, where as I really need a change. I'm not sure what to replace it with though. I'm wondering if the top part of sparkly corner would be rust proof. If so I might turn it into a gate for the herb garden.

So on renewal I always run my details through a few of the comparison websites knowing that the new customer deals from the current insurer will beat the renewal price.

But this time Esure give me a price 75% more than the renewal price if I put my exact details but 10% less if I change the house number to any other house on the street. IE they have figured out that people will see the new customer pricing if they use a price comparison website and have tweaked their price algorithm to stop this...sneaky barstewards.
    I think....

What made you put in a different house number?

I had one of those, this is more enhanced.

Firstly, there is an app for your phone, so you can see how much electric is being used when you are not at home.

Secondly it plots graphs: of you against other users, of you against your usage on different days, of how much you use in a day/ week/ month....

It also compares your gas usage against your electric usage.

Could keep you amused for hours if you let it.
