If the silver has any value potentially, get it valued before cleaning as cleaning it will take 30-90% off the possible sale price.

I didn't realise that, not that I have any silver.

Most things in the house were bought for a few £ from charity shops when I was younger.

Got to go to Leeds on Tuesday, trying to decide whether to take the Jag, Yeti or Focus......All 3 should do about 40mpg in cruise, so it's just a case of deciding what I feel like, I think.

Bugs, what is the best time to head in that direction? I don't do it often...

Lots of helicopter activity tonight in this area (I got in about 9pm), trying to decide whether it is helicopter, or this that's making it, certainly not a jet, and nothing else in the area.

If you want to buy some nice antique silver, go for something that has been cleaned as it will be worth a fraction of the price otherwise.

I once bought a Roman silver denarii as a gift for my FiL. It would have been described as Extra Fine condition and was pretty close to mint only it had been cleaned. As a result I paid twenty quids for it.

You can ride on the back of the Abominable Snowman to Leeds. Now that I've gotta see!

Killing myself that I've booked a meeting in a congested city at 9am. Really wasn't the brightest idea. Trains from here don't run that early unfortunately :(

Simply supply and demand: people want old silver stuff to have patina. I suspect it proves that it is old.

Can you drive to the outskirts and get a train in? Or travel up the night before and stay over? I guess you'd need stabling for the Yeti. It'd just be weird to share a bed with it.

Got told a great story at work today.

Apparently someone approached Joseph Heller in the 1970s and complained that he hadn't written anything as good as Catch 22 since then. The reply?

"In my defense, nor has anyone else"!

If I'm paying for parking anyway, I'd rather just drive. Probably sounds stupid, but it's the way I think.

    I dont get the joke?

The Yeti is this, it's a brilliant, usable, big estate car.
