List of things that aren't functioning well in my life is too long to contemplate, but they all come from a common root. First step is sorting out my crazy sleeping pattern which sees me staying up far too late most nights and then spending several hours asleep during the day on the days I'm not working.
I don't want to make light of the much worse troubles that afflict those who are depressed, or to be ungrateful that the GP is still saying that what is wrong with me is not depression, but nevertheless, burnout is not a fun way to live.
So, all you NP with masses of stress and crazy over-busy lives, take a warning from my example, and don't let yourself get to the stage I'm in. It took me several years of excessive stress to get to where I am now. Don't let it happen to you. You are not invincible for ever.
Please don't tell me that my life is actually working fine and I shouldn't worry about it. Trust me, my life is not fine. It's not a total disaster either, but it's really not OK.
On a practical level, please shoot me if I am logged in on here after midnight on a school night or half past midnight on a not-school night. (This may seem very late to those of you who are early birds by nature, but I'm not, and my alarm doesn't go off until 7:30 on weekdays, so midnight is quite reasonable.)Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -
Top work Doozergirl!!!chewmylegoff wrote: »I am knackered. I took apart some MALM drawers and shoved them in the loft then built 2 x PAX wardrobes (or 3x if you count the additional work created by getting it all wrong and having to backtrack) and a HEMNES bookcase today. It took bloody ages and I really must get an electric screwdriver as my hands are in pieces.
Is there a category for flat pack furniture assembly in master builder of the year?
Yes there is. I will nominate you.
You have to assemble the trophy yourself though.0 -

I was incredibly proud when I assembled a bed for my mom few months back. I'm usually really bad with anything that can't be done sitting at a desk.
3am, still writing emails to ensure I can try to hit a 1st March (preferably before) target for something, need to get Ltd renamed, sort company bank accounts and then sort tech/payment systems yet, before even thinking of the licensing requirements for maybe half the business.
Ambition is always good, but not tonight💙💛 💔0 -
If you really want to know...
I made the mistake of having a very stressful, over busy life and one day, my body and brain just revolted and refused to do anymore. It is something my parents worry about with my going back to work as I still have to do so much care with the boys but hopefully, I can learn from my mistakes and get it right this time.
Although going to bed early is not one I have learnt, bedtime during the week is normally closer to 1.30am, non school night is usually around 2.30-3am.....I can only sleep in one session for no more than 5 and a half hours, maybe 6 if I am incredibly lucky.
And then only if the care duties allow. We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0 -

I built youngest's bed (a midi sleeper) and amazingly, it is still standing....7 years later! I also built his drawer unit, put in a new light fitting in the kitchen, new light switches in the toilet and 2 storage towers for James and Josh.
Most with a kitchen knife as I didn't have a screwdriver :rotfl:We made it! Thank you! So good to know I'm not the only one. I really need to change this, though, if I am to have any hope of improving my energy levels during the day. I'm slightly different from you, though: I CAN sleep for longer than 5 hours, it's just that I don't leave myself enough time to do so.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Not back to work this morning as poor ds was retching every 10 to 30 minutes until 4am and I am too knackered. DW has struggled up to take the girls to school and i will go to work this afternoon, my stomach feels slightly dodgy but hopefully that is just psychosomatic.I think....0
