JFK is probably turning in his grave. It's such a rubbish airport.

    I found Newark much better.

Quite a funny thought, that those looking down from above will have views on places given their names.

Parts of the town near to us have some residential roads named after famous film directors. Some of the roads have major subsidence issues - I think some of the film director's careers also sunk.

I measured the gap this morning, never actually gone out and done that before. It's 10' from wall to boundary, give or take 1-2" or so.

That is half your house! Time to start planning a two story full length extension, add a bedroom and bathroom upstairs and a study and utility downstairs. Sell at a big profit and start again!

I don't know anything about flying or airports... never heard of any lounges, don't know what a Club Lounge is (I assume it's closed to peasants anyway).

I don't expect to ever gain knowledge of flying/airports.

I've always flown economy unless lucky enough to be upgraded.

What's become clear is that WHEN :A I am able to fly again its likely this won't be sensible, at least longer trips. I have to admit the idea of looking at options other than how would normally do things is daunting, but also exciting. I also know that I can come here and ask people like viva and silvercar for advice on how to start looking.

What I don't like about club is that the airline employees behave in an obsequious manner towards you which suggests that that is how those who can afford club expect to be treated by those providing them a service. I wouldn't behave differently if Bill Gates were employing me or a govt admin officer, I don't bow down to no one.
    I think....

When we went to Vienna last summer, the tickets for club were £7 more each (outbound only) than in cattle class. It would have been rude not to...
Easy to get your money's worth on £7, if you'd been going to have coffee/breakfast/snack anyway.
If we ever fly longhaul I think I would have to upgrade. Really don't care about the service etc., just need more legroom as I know from experience that sitting for any length of time in a standard seat/space will practically cripple me for about a week.

Simplest thing is to clearly not expect it, if that's how it is. Makes others look silly and little, and frankly, rather base in their expectations. Good service is not synonymous with 'obsequious'.

But then, not suggesting its you michaels, but plenty of people confuse being polite, and giving good service with 'bowing down'. After all many the rows ( as opposed to debates) on the forums are those who fail to discern the difference in the inverse.

Longhaul I'm gonna need the first option to have a lie down. :o.

I've down a few hours in the garden/ yard this morning and I need my feet up, lol.

lir, in terms of when you do fly, I'd watch out for one of the periodical club class ticket sales (or Virgin equivalent). They do happen from time to time, and the prices aren't bad. Or alternatively do what (I think) michaels and gen did, short haul to Paris or Amsterdam, then long haul out of there on a cheaper ticket. As you don't fly very often, you could even use that as a chance to see the city and then take the main flight the following day (or day after that).

When I get clearance to fly I might make up for lost time :D

We'll cross that bridge when it comes to it, eh?:D. Something to look forward to. :)

My house is pretty much the cheapest 2-bed in the town. I just checked the cheapest 4-bed and it's £20k more than I paid for this one (and has more land/garden etc and is a semi).

Closest house to mine in age/style is on at £80k more than I paid for this one, but that's also got an integral garage and driveway - and is in a better catchment area than this one - and other factors....

There's a lot about your house that sounds like you chose the right one for you. You seem happier in your posts since you moved, more settled. It's secure and you've got neighbours you can trust in an emergency. You've worked out that its relatively safe from the wind as its a bit sheltered, which was a concern. All huge positives that aren't necessarily reflected in a house's value.
