My house would not meet current regs. There are no doors between the cooker and the stairs.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -
My place was built in 1964, One of the last jobs I have to do is replace the carp doors, so I will address the problem (if there is one) then ... tbh, the kitchen could be more of a problem, I doesn't even have a door!0

There is no problem.
I wonder if the house on the thread is three storey, in which case there is the need to create a 'protected stairwell' and put 30 minute fire doors throughout the habitable rooms. Bathrooms are ordinarily exempt from this but I can see why the BCO might change this if the WC actually doubles as a utility and has a fire risk in it.
I don't think this would be an issue in a regular up/down house. You don't need a protected stairwell, you just need appropriate means of egress to outside through a door or appropriately sized window.
None of this is a problem in an existing house at all.
I am not even certain that a door is required between the cooker and the stairs. It might be prudent but I can't find it as requirement in Part B unless the house has a floor above 4.5 metres.
There you go.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

On the train to visit some friends. It's times like this I dearly miss having a car; could have driven to their house in the time it took me to get to the train station
now on one of those slow stopping services. In fact I'm not even 100% sure I'm on the right train.
Have good weekend all. Sending Vibes to Gen in particular but they're open to all who need them.“I could see that, if not actually disgruntled, he was far from being gruntled.” - P.G. Wodehouse0 -
Think dog dog has a trapped nerve.
After making the vet appointment I gave her something, its mainly resolved. Vet was a bout twelve. I am old. Decided to chat to sensible vet nurse. Sensible vet nurse said something not sensible ( what you need is another dog, for him....pointing at kiwi who had come along)
Picked up big dog, who my mother wanted cremated. And kissed an almost edible min pin.0 -

OH and I just watched the BBC2 programme "The Super Rich and Us" on catch up. (originally shown on Thursday at 9pm)
I think it's well worth a watch, but the thing that really made me laugh was one of the buy to let landlords who is biggest in this country who runs seminars for wannabees... He stands in front of his mirror in the morning and chants "If I wasn't me I'd wanna be me!" Accompanied by a groin thrust... It was the wannabees groin thrusting made me nearly wet myself!:rotfl: Pastures, you really need to see it!
It's quite late on in the thing, and can't remember name of the bloke (it wasn't that nasty couple that are getting rid of all their tenants who are on benefits, whose names I can't remember as well).
OH couldn't understand initially why I was laughing so much at the Groin Thrusting! :rotfl:0 -
One of my friends sent me a link to this YouTube vid. Sound and pictures aren't great, but I bet the kids in the school absolutely loved it (and in the back of my mind, I found myself looking for Lydia)...

Ah! I hadn't realised only having 2 storeys made a difference. Thanks for explaining.vivatifosi wrote: »One of my friends sent me a link to this YouTube vid. Sorry to disappoint, but that's a primary school. You wouldn't ever catch me teaching in one of those!!!Do you know anyone who's bereaved?
