Trouble is, as I understand it, for building regs it has to remain and if it's changed it has to meet building regs that it has to be accessible. Maybe mine's a tad large. I believe it was originally planned to be a 3 bed house - and I think I have the 3 bed house size, which has to incorporate drainage potential for a future shower. However, as they got plans knocked back etc, I believe my house ended up 3' narrower and 2 beds.
So, on the basis that I fully support an accessible loo - and, who knows, I might need one one day, it seems to me that to stick it outside in a small utility extension, will solve lots of problems.
It did need signing off when it was built, but it wouldn't need signing off to remove, because it's unlikely to be structural work.
Ieven if you didn't build an extension but wanted to put it back in several years, all the hard work is done for it.
Have you got a floorplan?Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

Bearing in mind how long it can take you to do big stuff, you could lose most of the hallway right now by taking out the lounge wall and moving the WC door to be opposite the stairs, for privacy. You could create the 3' box you described by putting in another door. Or not.
Or take it all out and live without a downstairs loo for a while. See how you like it.
You're describing at the moment, an extension that appears to have four walls and three doors. That is going to severely limit your ability to place anything inside it.
It might make sense to have it as a porch, but I think the door to the back might be a step too far if you want it to be an accessible loo and utility.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

I posted a birthday card and present to a friend yesterday. The present was... a pair of socks!
She is always freezing cold, even in the summer. I bought her some heat holders to try. I'm planning to treat her to something else when we meet up, but will probably forget
. We tend to send silly small presents rather than splashing out. I much prefer it that way.
I tried the socks last night when I rolled back home. They seem great (not that it was very cold last night).
Those heat holders are FABULOUS.
Not only are they very warm but its like walking on pillows. When my feet are very sore and swollen they like clouds softening everything.
Edit: Fir has some too, but I used to wear his over mine. Delicious.0 -

They are still nice for lounging in. Or would be could for wellies for beach combing in the less sunny seasons..

PN, if you have a problem with the washing machine, as your downstairs loo is 8' x 9' could you not just re-jig the loo, basin etc.. and make room for the washing machine in there? It would then be a cloaks/utility and would be a lot cheaper than an extension?
Sorry if that's not what you 'need' but I hate washing machines in the kitchen and it seems like you have lots of room in the cloaks.0 -

And I do look at them in shops. But my "buying point" is £5, whereas wellies, in the main, start at about £15.
One day I'll see some at a car boot sale ... and I'll acquire them.
Second hand wellies leak.
Tenner probably get you some at a DIY shed?
I.m trying to type this on a phone. To faffy I think0 -

The 8' x 9' includes the hallway which wraps around the loo. PN has a link to the floorplan.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

lostinrates wrote: »Really wishing I'd brought more stuff in. Found the back door blocked by the Christmas tree ( put out of the house last weekend but not taken over to the bonfire site yet...... Which reminds me better check weather for next week....). Firs windchimes are going to be very tangled.
Last night was very blowy here and the new bell DD bought us in Aus was was swinging in the wind from its hook beside the door. It made a pretty sound but was irritating through the night. This morning I said to DD that it needed to be brought in in windy weather as it sounded like a wind chime. her reply "it is a wind chime" "I wondered why you hung it as a bell".
We have not had much luckwith windchimes. some years ago I bought some Westminster chimes that were set of long pipes and cost £60. We hung them from tree about 30 ft up the garden. They were musical in a soft breeze but deafening in strong wind. we took them down due to the nuisance factor and gave them to the white elephant stall.0 -
