I've spent more than £18k today
Usually it's the yacht renovations or the tax bill on one of my small sidelines.
Custard doughnuts, chocolate eclairs and pizza. Glad to see it hasn't affected your strict diet.0 -

PN, I almost spat out my drink with laughter :rotfl:
Haven't had one for a while, but this is my Post of the Day0 -
We have a clever switch on our landing that has a little light for the switch that controls the loft light, so it reminds you that it has been switched on. Useful if someone knocks it on by accident and no-one notices.Getting an electrician to fit a light in the loft (if there isn't one there already which there might be) would be easier and cheaper than fitting a velux window.
Definitely recommend loft ladders and lights. I have the sort of ladder that's attached to the hatch and hinges down for climbing up. Had a similar arrangement in the previous house too.
I had an electrician put a light up in my loft for me, and the switch for it is within arm's reach when I'm standing on the loft ladder. That way, you know you've switched it off before leaving the loft.
I've got a typical loft ladder which is fastened to a solid board in the loft and you pull down using a hook on the end of a pole. The ladder is designed not to slide out on you (i.e. it won't brain you as it comes down) and is, I think on hydraulics to maintain this pressure/friction.
The same hook/pole twists the catch on the underneath of the loft hatch, to lower it down.Yes, that's the sort of thing I'm thinking of. I think the most difficult bit will be replacing the loft hatch, but it'll be worth it if it means I can actually use the loft without needing my dad (our family loft expert) to be here.
I'd have thought this was a straightforward job for a joiner to do, once you've got your ladder? A colleague had it done and I don't remember it being too much trauma.0 -

OH is desperate to meet other people who will be having kids at the same time as her. I'm not sure why as we already know 4 people who she actually likes within 15 mins of us who will be on maternity leave at the same time as her. How many baby friends do you need? Oh well, 2 hours tonight and then every Saturday in Jan written off. Rubbish.
We didn't think about that till very late. Joined a group that had already started and we had DD just before the end. Brought her to the last group in Blue Peter "here's one we made earlier" sort of show and tell.
Main advantage is you get a baby-sitting circle going.
Through our group we got to know a great bunch of people and we all meet up regularly 20 years later.
Salmonella in chocolate? Had an interview thirty years ago for a chocolate company and checking chocolate electrically to detect that kind of bacteria was a big thing even back then. There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0 -
Oh gosh, hope that gets resolved quickly CK.
It was a little scary to find I'm (apparently) over the OD limit, knowing that whilst there's nothing like that in the account, it's been possible to spend it/Mmm, custard doughnuts ... (day 1 of diet rapidly disappearing mentally into the distance)
Sorry! I'm on diet at moment, but it's a case of eating less, than eating better (although I'm quite healthy generally anyway). I would usually have eaten both, but gave the eclairs to a friend for birthday, and eaten one of the doughnuts tonight.
Hope everyone is ok, and sorry for not being around last few days, I'm not feeling so good in the last week, so sleeping more than usual, working less, and trying to get out few hours a day.💙💛 💔0 -
I've got the TV on in the background, and The British Property Boom has just started on More 4.
Nothing so unusual about that, you might think, but the programme description on my Freeview box has the final sentence on it:
"Strong language / scenes of surgery / graphic images" :eek:0 -

Become a contestant on Come Dine With Me. Most of them there are promoting themselves/their business in some way and raising their profiles.
It'd be possible to plug the business, while people get to see the house for sale - all in one.
I think Doozer fronting a Channel 4 television series might have helped that. If he hadn't turned it down!Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.
