Refreshing is a good word for it!

-1, beautiful blue skies. No intention of leaving the house, if possible.

    Lots of frost here too.

Normally I wouldn't be leaving the house, but I've got an appointment to go and [STRIKE]cuddle [/STRIKE] meet a new baby :j

    Very excited.

Yesterday was like that here, and we went for a lovely walk with the Ramblers. Today is forecast to be light cloud, but it's been raining all morning. :( On the other hand, it's a great excuse to stay in bed, watching Argo, with Metropolis queued up next! :)
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

Gen, if you had wanted a meetup, we would have loved to have seen you, but the very last thing we want to do is to become another "ought to" on your list of burdens and responsibilities.

If your visit is becoming political, I imagine that means that it is being difficult and stressful for you. So sorry to hear that - but not especially surprised considering everything. We are here for you whenever you need us, and we are all hoping for the best for you.

    Sending hugs and prayers.

    That's beautifully put, Lydia

Sending you hugs and prayers too, Gen.

GDB - I got a mixer from DH too, and I did actually ask for it specifically. It's a smaller one than Mrs Chewie's, as our kitchen's quite small. I'm so pleased to have it, but I think DH felt it wasn't a "proper present" even though I'd asked for it, because it was bought before Christmas (Black Friday offer) and has been sitting in the kitchen in its box since then, so he felt he had to get me some other little things too. This was sweet of him, and he's a dear, generous-hearted man, but I really didn't want anything else!

Pastures - -Good to have you back :j

lir Are you all right, honeybunch? You're very quiet!

    A question for the NP:

When it is very cold outside and your house will only be warm inside if you put the heating on, then on days when you are not going to work and will be in the house all day, do you heat it all day, or just for a while in the morning and again in the evening?

...we used to but our house now seems to stay warm all day though the heating goes off @ 8.30am. If anyone can face digging up all their floors and re laying with insulation, the heat cost savings are great ....but the actual pain of doing the work is almost unforgettable ;)

Has anyone seen any lovely wallpaper recently? I'm looking for an idea. Not my house.

I am in love with eglomise by Harlequin but on the screen it looks rubbish. The duck egg blue with silver is like knackered plaster but all sheeny / shiny.

I'm increasingly thinking that a meetup involving me is going to be off the cards. Really sorry. This visit has become quite political in many ways.

    :(
Ditto to LJ's post (as she always writes 'thoughts' down so well :)).

@ Work today but not achieving much at all except I am cleaning and clearing out so will feel really cleansed tonight....but man it's cold in the studio....which is un-heatable really. Just have a plug in rad under each desk....which means I put off getting on with stuff as I sit and roast my legs.

We had a difficult time with parent who came for 3 days and acted very demandingly. Nothing was good enough, including when we took 3 hours out of Xmas afternoon (not that we are big on Xmas) to take her to visit an ailing relative and she moaned all the way back about how she should have spent longer there and we shouldn't have bothered if it was an effort. Sulky behaviour from then onwards. :(

    Sending sympathy vibes.
We have a lesser version than yours on OH's side but her grumbling is always behind the back, never to your face so have no idea if the right or wrong thing was done until several weeks later when someone mentions it.
We ignore it or second guess things...and then ignore it again :)

    Paint stripping solution.

I always forget what horrid stuff it is. And how ineffective.

Thinking ahead to stair runners ( pfft...if we ever get that far) I'd love a natural flooring like sisal, coir, seagrass or something, but il think they are all pretty dangerous on stairs aren't they? Do they all go slippery? Any one know? Then there is the question of the cats seeing it as one long cat scratcher of course.

I've seen some ok plain runners with contrast bindings.

I trust it's refreshingly cool enough for Mr G today.

Frosty here, right now -4, overnight -5. Grass and shed roof still white.

I think it's fair to say it was bracing here this morning. -2.5C according to the car. We went to Tesco. Prices are very keen compared with Aus.

Should have gone to Aldi for an even nicer surprise.

    I think I have bronchitis.
