A question for the NP:
When it is very cold outside and your house will only be warm inside if you put the heating on, then on days when you are not going to work and will be in the house all day, do you heat it all day, or just for a while in the morning and again in the evening?
I'd put it on during the day. No point in getting so cold that you just don't warm up once the heating comes on with the timer.
It's only for a week or so until going back to work, and luckily I have budgeted for the increase in annual gas consumption when doing my quotes / tariffs.
I do still have a onesie on, and a fleecy blanket over my knees too, though, as my house is really really draughty.0 -

Thanks PN

Awkward, disjointed, wet and cold wouldn't bother me, but being sensible it's a bit too long a drive I think.
Plan A is to invite myself round to my friends
Plan B has been revised to treating myself to a nice dinner, doing something extravagant like having a bath and buying some nice food for New Year's Day. With some wine.
I'll have to decline my mum's invite to host her as
1: it'll definitely be too cold here for her to be comfortable
2: the spare bedrooms are out of action so she'd be sharing with me or I'd be on the sofa
3: for me, Christmas is family time, NY isn't (a.n.other gets way too sad at NY for my liking, when I'm trying to be optimistic and hopeful).0 -

There's never been a spud shortage as spuds have ALWAYS been over-catered for as sibling used to love munching on cold ones for days after.
As is tradition in our house, we had roast potatoes and croquettes. I'd be happy with just one roast potato. But don't mess with my share of the pigs in blankets
Edit: I'm quite partial to a cold roast potato, stolen from the fridge when no-one is looking

It is. It's not as if I'd invited you for a 4-day extravaganza on my posh yacht, sailing round the Greek islands while nubile scantily-clad waiters served us food/drinks from heaven.... being sensible it's a bit too long a drive I think.
....
If you'd turned that down I'd have thought you a bit sniffy

Any nice people who buy train season tickets should think about buying before the fare rise on 2 January.
We lose our daily off peak cap of £8.90 off peak and are rewarded with a 30%+ rise.
I know peak fares are rising only slightly, but that doesn't effect us. I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. Sign me up for that year!
Your offer is equally as generous and even more thoughtful though. Thank you

!!!!!!...its not even as if they actually manage to run any trains on time. I think we need to make the local MPs understand this is an election deciding issue.I think....0 -
Has anyone seen any lovely wallpaper recently? I'm looking for an idea. Not my house.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

I thought about it but as I'll be needing a ticket from 2nd February I don't think it's going to be worth it to buy one earlier.
I've just got an Amex card with 5% cashback so that will take the sting out of it :money:“I could see that, if not actually disgruntled, he was far from being gruntled.” - P.G. Wodehouse0 -
