I'm almost scared to watch the global news at this time of year. There's another plane gone missing near Malaysia. A ferry's in trouble between Italy and Greece. Horrible news.
Is it actually more dangerous to travel at this time of year? it sometimes feels like it must be.There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0 -
A question for the NP:
When it is very cold outside and your house will only be warm inside if you put the heating on, then on days when you are not going to work and will be in the house all day, do you heat it all day, or just for a while in the morning and again in the evening?
We put the heating on again for a couple of hours early afternoon.
If I was being very diligent (which I'm not) I would change the timer setting for the morning to later, put it on for a couple of hours early afternoon but turn the upstairs rads off for this schedule and then move the timeclock to come on later in the evening.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. I can now have more sympathy for Gen feeling the cold over here. Upon returning from the tropics (my parents' home) it feels fffrrrreeezing here.
I have it set for morning and evening - but with a later start when I'm at home and to start earlier in the evening (not some fancy programme, I reset the timer manually which means I have to remember to change it back again). And if it still feels cold (as it does now), I'll pop it back on again.0 -

All day, thermostat set to 26 today. wood burner alight in sitting room.
it is very toasty here. It is the same in the week when I am home alone I do not have the woodburner alight as i cannot keep the fire in.0 -
The question is a hypothetical one for me Lydia as we have E10, but in old house, I would override and put on all day if it started to feel a bit chilly. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? We have the option of throwing one of those 5 hour burning bars on the fire. It adds a bit of heat to that one room, but I suspect you feel as though it is giving out more heat than it actually does.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. I meant proper pastry :Plostinrates wrote: »GOt IT
Pastures said you cannot fry pastry. I just thought of gyoza. I know its a dumpling, but technically the wrapper must be a type of pastry?
( still want to try frying what pn would think of as pastry though)
Ahahaha,
Just thought again of gnocchi fritti......a fried pastry, and the carnivale treats in Italy....deep fried pastry. Chiacchiere, cenci things like that. .......its all sounding more and more feasible to me. And I've seen things like crossovers between croissants and doughnuts on food network.
Pies, pasties, cheese & onion quiche stuff. Regular. Not your fancy shmancy stuff I'd have to Google to even have a clue what it was
