The first Hunger Games film on Film4 here.
The stairs are largely stuff-free. There is a substantial collection of (my) shoes piled up at the bottom of it though.

Hope you have a fantastic couple of weeks, fc (and Mr fc of course :)). Enjoy relaxing and entertaining in your beautiful house!
....not so beautiful this morning after 2 days of constant entertaining but everyone had a good time...I am whacked though .....I kind of never switched off as I was always making a cup of tea for a stray a parent or replenishing glasses / food....I then spent what seemed like every hour unloading and loading the dishwasher.

The hardest bit was the timing of Xmas dinner.....we fed 10 and trying to serve everything hot and not over cooked is always a challenge.
Yorkshires were rising wonderfully and I realised I had left the leek bake on the lower shelf which then got totally annihilated for 30 mins on 220degs. Removed risen Yorkshires which then promptly sunk so looked like shoe soles.

I read back and seems everyone had a good one though Chewy was deprived on the roast potato front ;)

Having lots of stress and no money is no help to marital bliss, but having someone impartial to speak to is pretty invaluable, even if one goes and the other doesn't. Having someone to help with depression is another important thing. The other partner can't fix it.

Love to you, Gen, and a potential beer if you would like, from tomorrow afternoon onwards, with someone who's been there and seen it and is okay. Or just with someone who likes beer

Ditto from me too.....I didn't see the post but get the jist.
If it helps at all, I have no idea how our marriage survived the years between toddlers and early teens with all the money / work stress and whatnot.

OH is very open about saying that had we had the time to sit down and properly discuss things we may have actually broken up but we never had the time/ energy to even do that...and then it all fell into place a few years later and went back to where it was 20 years previously...the core feeling of 'us' if you know what I mean.
Don't know of that's helpful or true of other long time married NP's as can only speak from a personal perspective.
    Sending good thoughts to you.

There were 30 roast potatoes between 8 people and he took 9! Nine!

Took mum and dad to Asda today (it's over 20 miles away so not a usual trip), not sure it was the best idea....3 hours later and we were finally getting back into the car!

They also gave me a lovely thank you card for helping out over the Christmas period, although I think I scared them after going into manic clear up mode last night after cooking the Boxing day buffet...I cleaned and tidied their kitchen from top to bottom and couldn't stop until everything (and I mean everything), sparkled. They were confused, the boys kept saying to them "Leave her to it, she won't stop until she stops and if you try to stop her before that, she gets narky"

No idea why I get like that but it was what got my house clear earlier this year, just wish it had happened years earlier! (Although I couldn't move last night, so maybe not the best of ideas)
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

Very pleased to hear that the tradition of trip-hazard hasn't been completely eliminated ;):p:D

Nice to see that your efforts have been appreciated, but hope that you felt less exhausted today.

In my mind, it was the least I could do, although I had provided some items for the Christmas meal, my parents had provided the lionshare of the foodstuffs, had opened their house to us all and more importantly, put up with us for several hours over two days.

A little bit of cleaning and helping to do the cooking is nothing compared to that.

I'm still quite tired and stiff but at least that gave me an excuse to try out the mobility scooter like trolley thing in Asda (my wheelchair doesn't fit in mum and dad's car), huge fun, a choice of where I go rather than being pushed where Josh wants to go but not something I would do in my local supermarket!

have spent the last two days with my sister and her offspring and grandchildren.it was lovely. Poignant momemnt supplied courtesy of two little boy cousins aged 5 and 6, the 6 year old recently completed 5 years of treatment for leukemia and looks well and happy, his widowed mum remarried this year and he now has a 'dad' and baby brother. his 5 year old cousin said "you haven't got a dad, he died on the mountain with my dad", He responded, "my mum found a new one". tear jerking but his obvious delight outweighed any sadness grown ups felt.
good supply of squidgy babies too.
Hopr NDG and the Nice baby are well.

Love kiddy speak. Hope mum has an answer ready when the dadless little one asks his mum when she is going to find a new one!

We had a difficult time with parent who came for 3 days and acted very demandingly. Nothing was good enough, including when we took 3 hours out of Xmas afternoon (not that we are big on Xmas) to take her to visit an ailing relative and she moaned all the way back about how she should have spent longer there and we shouldn't have bothered if it was an effort. Sulky behaviour from then onwards. :(

Some people are intrinsically unpleasable. It is more comfortable for their families when they recognise this and stop hoping for anything different.

Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

    A question for the NP:

When it is very cold outside and your house will only be warm inside if you put the heating on, then on days when you are not going to work and will be in the house all day, do you heat it all day, or just for a while in the morning and again in the evening?
