I've no time to be a hypochondriac.... there's nobody listening/caring if I tried it - and it doesn't get the pies bought and reheated.

Well, if you register with a doctor, he'll listen to you and might even care.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

    Much better answer! :)

On the other hand, a doctor might be better at diagnosing illnesses.

You sound like my son. I say "you're fine, stop fussing." He says, "I think the doctor knows more than you."

Even now, I say "I wouldn't call this operation essential, you should think carefully whether you want it. Why have a GA if you don't need to?" He says, "if the doctor is prepared to operate, why wouldn't I have it done?"

The problem is only causing a minor niggle at odd times. Not going to get worse. I've been told I can't post details.

DS2 having a minor op today under GA :(

He feels it justifies all his hypochondria.

I hope it goes well for him and as a by product, makes him less of a hypochondriac.

silvercar I hope all goes well for DS.

Lydia We have grammar schools here and, as you say, a lot of children are tutored for the 11+. It was recently acknowledged by our LEA that this was unfair on bright local children whose families couldn't afford to pay for a tutor, while children from surrounding boroughs were getting places at our grammar schools, so the local test has been changed; I don't know quite what has been altered, but it is now supposed to be impossible for a child to get high marks just due to coaching . I think this is the first year of using the new test so we don't yet know how much difference it will make regarding the number of "untutored" children getting into a grammar school.

Just thought you might find that interesting :)

Pastures new We are very fond of you and will, as silvercar and GDB say, always listen and care about you, but please do register with a GP :)

I've finally got round to sorting out some piles of paperwork and shredding the immediate stuff that's no longer required. Overall this is a several-step process where I do a first pass of what's important/not and shred stuff. Next I'll start sorting the piles of stuff into exact files of stuff in date order. After that it'll be a case of actually writing out some tabs for the filing drawers. For now though, the process has started and I've got somewhere to put things and a shredder to get rid of things. That's a start over what used to be "several assorted boxes, couple of carrier bags, some empty Lidl wine boxes and some random scatterings of old mail, statements, letters, insurances, receipts, tourist information leaflets and scribbles on bits of paper" that were simply being stored/lugged around until the mythical day when I'd "sit down and sort it all out"

    Excellent! Well done!

I suspect that there's scope for a small business doing this for other people.

Yes, but it'd be nicer if there were somebody 24/7 on hand to wait on me hand and foot, sympathise, bring me small treats and gifts, pick up some ointments/tablets and cook for me :)

It is not all it is cracked up to be, and you feel guilty. My poor OH is exhausted.Roll on doing it for myself and doing stuff for others.
