I don't think I've ever seen the queen's speech - Christmas Day is about the only time that the TV doesn't get switched on.0

It's grey and boring and horrid and mizzly here in Liverpool.

We have an infestation of case making moths in our bedroom.   So the room is festooned with traps (tied up with sparkly ribbon as we couldn't find string, so marginally festive :rotfl: ), but we suspect that the pheromone in them only works for clothes moths, so not caught anything yet... OH did smash about 5 first thing this morning, and since has been round the (white) walls and mopped off the dead remains from the last few days... My sweaters are mostly in the freezer, and when they've been in a few days the rest will follow. Time to break out the steamer I think and attack the carpet!
However I'm so depressed by it all I'm still sitting in bed watching carp TV and smoking, oops sorry, vaping, pretend cigs. Might have to get dressed so can go have a proper smoke in front porch.
Any advice on eradication of moths gratefully received. The bad news is I am chemically sensitive, so can't use insecticide.
There's a second kind of pheromone trap on amazon so we might try that as well. Prob won't work any better than the first, but I'm desperate.
OH has had a dreadful cough for the last couple of weeks, is just getting over it now. So glad we had enough fish in the freezer we managed without shopping! I did offer to do an online supermarket shop, but he's a bit funny about it so refused (I really don't get this, as he's perfectly happy for me to order our fish online from Cornwall!). He finally got out Friday to butcher and supermarket, so today it's roast beef with Yorkshires and roasties. :j
Better try and get going now - need to drag my decent jacket downstairs so it doesn't succumb to the blasted moths. Have to say every time I type that word I think of Inspector Clouseau!
Spirit, so glad you sound in such good spirits!
Sounds like your Crimbo preparations are coming on apace.
Nikster, love your little tree - very cute. Not sure if we'll manage a tree this year, we're all behind after OH not being well. Not a card writ or prezzie wrapped, and still need to get prezzies for the DDs... At least we found stuff for the SiLs and GrandKids.
Hoping to find my Christmas spirit over the next week... Or maybe not? One year the girls gave me a badge that reads "Protect me from Christmas"!

We are staunch republicans here, the monarchy are fine for the tourists but we should definitely be citizens not subjects (and don't get me started on needing a written constitution).
A colleague has a lodger who has brought bed bugs into his house and I have to admit to nervousness when he hangs his jacket up close to mine....I am pretty sure our insurance doesn't cover the complete replacement of all soft furnishings an infestation would require.I think....0 -
Many of you will remember our old friend Inspector Monkfish. It looks like Daisy has been very poorly recently.

Poor, poor Daisy. It seems so unfair! No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -

I suspect the same as moths - vermin, so not covered by house insurance. But  for your poor colleague. What a nightmare.
To be honest about the beastly moths I feel like I should be walking around ringing a bell and calling out "Unclean, unclean"!
We're going to steam the bedroom carpet tomorrow. Or at least the bits under the rug that seems to have been the epicentre of the outbreak. (rug has been consigned to purple bin)
OH not well enuff today to do that as well as cook. He hasn't seen his Mum for about 2 weeks now, and not sure when he'll be able to yet. Although he's feeling better in himself he still has a hacking cough, so best for him to stay away from the nursing home still we think.0 -

Can you not stretch to engineered real wood? It is much nicer than laminate.I think....0 -
Just got back from London. Regent Street lights not good this year. Oxford St and Bond St much nicer. Also went into Liberty to see the ship's mast (from the TV programme) looks great in real life, very impressive. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Most moles are not cancerous, any doubts, please check next time you visit your GP.
