    That's nice and cheery.

    Wicker wreath: £4 from Hobbycraft
    Holly: from garden
er... that was about it. Used some raffia that I bought after Christmas last year (maybe 25p for 3 balls of raffia) to hang it up. Seeing as the old door is still here, I didn't have to think twice about sticking it up with sellotape.

    Not perfect, but it'll do.

    Here is my tree:output_zpsib6awwcy.jpg

Its only small, so I think it looks a bit like a child who is trying on it's parent's shoes :o Ah well, I'm pleased I got it.

Need to do that London thing of 'walking'.

Not sure whether to open my case to find hat/scarf and show everyone my jimjams on this suburban service or walk in the freezing cold.

    Decisions.

Awww... lodger has got in and said the tree is beautiful :) They're not from round here, so it's their first ever tree.
Even more glad I bothered now :)

That is lovely. They will want to tell their family about it. We have a chinese couple coming to us for Christmas lunch, They do not usually celebrate Christmas, whereas we are pretty traditional. We have had a day of Christmas preperations today, we will get a tree tomorrow OH and DD have a tree buying ritual they go through together. Today DD and I did gave the sitting room a pre-christmas clean. Then got outthe decorations for the room and put those up. we bought a couple of poinsettia, a pre made holly wreath( I am not up to making itthis year) which we will add orange slices, gold sprayed walnuts and wired bows and ribbon.we will use the same ribbon to make bows to attach to the wall lights.

stockings are out and hanging from the chimney breast. I have sat and watched as DD has put things together and It is a real transition from one generation to the next.

I was going to give regrets that I could not make mince pies for the vil
lage carol service next week, however DD has offered to make them.

I love this mixture that she values childish traditions in getting the tree with her dad, but that she is a fully functioning adult who can do stuff but usually cba, but naturally steps up to the plate to take things on.

tomorrow a new potential boyfriend is coming over. she has been seeing him for about 4 months, but he is still not a 'boyfriend' . I am not sure what test the poor chap has to take, I admire his patience.I can't see my husband asking if his intentions are honourable , I think it self evident that they are.

    I've been Money Tipped!
Going out this morning has seen me sleep all afternoon.

I cannot tell whether or not I'm getting a cold, its really annoying. Better than being in the midst of a heavy cold though I guess!

A Chinese couple spent a couple of Christmases with us. They adored Christmas pudding. ( one of my specialist subject teachers and the spouse) super people. That you celebrate very traditionally and are warm people make you ideal hosts.

I didn't even prompt them to compliment the tree, they just did :) They want to take photos, just need to work out the best light - as you could see, my photo wasn't great.

Following on from lir's post, perhaps I'll do some kind of Christmas dinner for us. I do feel a small responsibility to exhibit our traditions (or my take on them anyway).

Would be most likely after the big day, but I'm sure that wouldn't matter. I'll have to check whether Christmas dinner has been tried - if it's only been sampled from the canteen then we're on. They will be here over the festive period and far away from family (though there are friends of a similar background nearby).

LIR's story puts me in my place: sexist dinosaur. Now I know that, if I want something really heavy moved, I should get some teenage girls in and promise them cheap pony feed. I'm not sure how well this will work in London though? Cheap ciggies may be a better bet.

If you start handing out cigarettes to loa cal teenaged girls in return for help I suspect the police may be interested in you for a different type of grooming.

It will certainly puzzle the police if I hand out pony feed!
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?
