    I've been Money Tipped!
I might just be able to drag two 25kg bags around but I'd need a lie down and a cup of tea afterwards!

I try and leave feed bags to DH now because I'm not meant to lift anything. But 25 kg on a shoulder is not too bad.

    Fir takes two.

Dogs were beautifully behaved city shopping this morning. V. Proud of them.

Can confirm, shops that let dogs in do get impulse purchase benefits. Kiwi let a baby pull his top knot.

In an attempt to feel Christmassy rather than just hibernatey, I've bought a Christmas tree. It's only little, but I think it's very sweet. Might go and cut some bits of holly to make a wreath too (I bought a whicker wreath a while ago but have been lacking enough festive spirit to do anything with it).

Get some glue/glitter - you can spray some holly and lob it in random places, which posh people call "staging". :)

No, no. I wouldn't have tried alone. What happens is....

    ( squeamish please don't read)

In a pigs ear, you and the vet roll the dead animal on to a sturdy piece of fabric.....and make a sling and carry them out and try and get them into the boot of the vets car or your own so you are sort of trying to get a huge dog into a not very convenient space, or folding limbs in. Only to repeat process with more hands at other end if it was you cat cos vet drives a sports car or tiny thing ( thankfully with more people usually and sometimes at a big practice a suitable stretcher).

Its the kind of time you with you have polished floors so you can drag them through the house. As you cry and your nose runs. She weighed around seventy kg at the end.....so thirty five kilos if the vet and one carrier each pull their weight.

Don't even ask about when you have horses done in the back garden and the trailer cannot get a decent angle . :o.

you have brought to mind hitherto deeply buried (no pun intended)
memories. our first flat coat"Sedge" drowned in a neighbours swimming pool and OH and a couple of friends carried him in a blanket up our garden and into out field to bury him under an oak tree. he was exceedingly heavy and it was so sad.

DD's last pony died of a pulmonary rupture in her stable. the following morning the lorry came to take her away.our neighbours took down theirs and our fencing to enable access for what was a difficult job. DD and I went out.OH and neighbours all stayed indoors.

neighbours came round and scrubbed the stable and yard whilst other neighbour re-erected fences. They also cut the field to take the drag marks off the grass.

When I was a young teen girl I got a holiday job at a saddlery and feed merchants. Feed sacks used to weigh 30 kg plus when h/s or e u or something made them weight 25 we were expected to carry two at a time. Most of the girls who did jobs like this were slips of gels who were doing this for discounts on pony feed and did other pastimes like ballet or gymnastics.

There is no doubt I have lost a huge amount of strength mind you.

my daughter, who cannot pick her clothes up off the floor, carries sacks of feed and manhandles complete bales of hay and straw.I reckon equestrian goods lighten to the touch for horsey types.

No glitter, but here it is. It'll do for a first attempt. Hopefully next year's will be better!

LIR's story puts me in my place: sexist dinosaur. Now I know that, if I want something really heavy moved, I should get some teenage girls in and promise them cheap pony feed. I'm not sure how well this will work in London though? Cheap ciggies may be a better bet.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

    That's nice and cheery. I've never had/made a wreath.

We have a 100+ year old holly tree in our garden, i think the birds ate most of the berries in the past week. Nik has a lot of berries!
