    Wheezy made me laugh.

I begin to think I am really unique in not really using the lights that much at home. I know how many stairs there are and where they are. Its only mess and cats winding around legs ( or loose dogs) that might make stairs more hazardous. The cats play a game on the landing with my fingers which means they are out of the way of my feet and the dogs shouldn't be randomly about.

going up the stairs is ok but coming down the cat is a hazard at the top and the dog is a hazard at the bottom. today i got myself completely dressed except socks but put my slippers on . i intended to come down stairs and surprise Oh, foiled though as the stairs are draped in builders sheets as the bathroom is being altered.

LOL - I have this on - all these contestants are the sort of super-annoying and dim people I never wish to spend time with.

    That jacket is minging.

"Can we put the solar panels under the fabric?" :undecided
I accidentally on purpose watched it.

The boys' team this year appears to be entirely populated by the sort of people you'd expect to find in boiler rooms, selling penny shares to pensioners and touting early pension release scams to everyone else.

Normally there are just a couple of those sorts. Maybe the Spanish boiler rooms have hit hard times with the recession...

I miss Stuart Baggs The Brand. He wouldn't have sold shares in a bust AIM company to his granny just to get ahead.

I watched it although I was not planning to watch it because I got a bit bored of the format. But Mrs Wheezy watched it, so I got dragged in. :)

Also noticed the calibre of candidates has been declining steadily over the years. It's probably a conscious decision from the program makers because dumb, arrogant and obnoxious twits are considered better TV than intelligent youngsters?

Your pets really do have it in for you. It's like Animal Farm only without the pigs.

It sounds from afar, and let's face it there's little more afar than Aus, like you are still on the mend.

I would do the jumpy smilie but it seems inappropriate somehow.

Yes, my sibling had it done - it is cheaper than replacing 2-3 blown bulbs. It's on my "list of things for an electrician at some point".

It's very dangerous as these were used a lot in hallways/stairs, meaning people are living without any lighting on their stairs. My top landing bulb's like this, so I have to go up/down the stairs in darkness because of it. I bet loads of people have had accidents due to the inacessibility of the bulbs.

Yes - and it was only for a few years that they did it. The problem is there must be thousands of people who don't know and who simply give up trying to find one to fit....

Forgive me, but this is meant to be a money saying expert forum. There are some things you can save on expertly, and some you can't. Having an unlit staircase does not strike me as expert money saving. If the choice is between having a light and eating, it may be better to choose the light. Could you move one of the existing bulbs from somewhere less essential?
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

Hmm, things to make me ??...

Are geese a better bet than chickens? My city knowledge says that geese know how to look after themselves. If a fox comes, they'll see it off. Similarly, I can't see them sharing their food with the rats.

Or turkeys. I was once chased by a waist high turkey when I was a student. I could have faced up to it, but what was the point?

I suppose its a fine line between livestock that can see off predators and livestock that will still let you steal their eggs?

To be honest, I don't go upstairs often. I've no bed yet, so don't sleep up there. There's a downstairs loo. I only go upstairs about twice a day, usually in daylight. I've been upstairs this morning to have a bath... oh and back an hour later to shut the window.

That is an expert solution to the problem that I had not even dreamed of!

There ought to be a posh alert for someone who has a whole floor of her house she does not use?

I went to the hospital 2 days ago and they pretty much told me to pull myself together which is the current plan.

Bollicks to being ill, I'm going to be well. I'm not sure how that works in practice but in theory it sounds good so I'm going with the theory.

My geese live with my chickens. We get rats. Mine are a bit wimpy though. And foxes can take geese. In the city there is easier pickings...why would they?
