My boss has put in for Development Approval (Planning Permission to you) to renovate her house pretty extensively.

She got the bill through today for the first part of the DA. Included is a line item to pay for the Long Service Leave of the Civil Servant that is turning her down!

No, they are BC3s. But I can't walk in a shop and buy those... and so I've not got round to buying them online.

    They are 3-pin bayonets

Just pop into your local library, they will source them for you.

It's very dangerous as these were used a lot in hallways/stairs, meaning people are living without any lighting on their stairs. My top landing bulb's like this, so I have to go up/down the stairs in darkness because of it. I bet loads of people have had accidents due to the inacessibility of the bulbs.
    ....

    Wheezy made me laugh.

I begin to think I am really unique in not really using the lights that much at home. I know how many stairs there are and where they are. Its only mess and cats winding around legs ( or loose dogs) that might make stairs more hazardous. The cats play a game on the landing with my fingers which means they are out of the way of my feet and the dogs shouldn't be randomly about.

Ivyleaf, I noticed that Noel Streatfeild has undergone something of a resurgence lately and a lot of the books are in recent reprint. We have them at my library now too.

Thanks Viva - when I saw your post I had a look to see if a book of hers I read many years ago was available again, and it is, so I've ordered it :j It's been re-titled Dancing Shoes, but used to be called Wintle's Wonders.

I'll keep an eye out for a single, nicer, ivy leaf. It's not clear in that image that there's a small one and a bigger one ... so it's a bit annoying. :)

I am really pleased with it, Pastures, so please don't worry, unless of course it's irritating you every time you see it :)

Brilliant idea! If they can order some in and then deliver them, using the mobile van, that'd be super!

Well, an update. Mrs Furry visited today. All the previous party food had been gobbled up, new (pink) party food added. Mrs F said that usually this would be the last visit, but she'll do me a 4th.

She also said that after I'd called her with the update (chickens) she suddenly realised that the chicken owners had called her about the problem, but she'd not visited them as they were just off on their holidays - she'd gone when they got back and baited - and asked them "where does this back onto?" and realised that was the source of my problem.

Hmm, things to make me ??...

I've been up your stairs and they're quite big/wide. My sibling's new built stairs are treacherous. I have tiny feet and they're smaller than the length of my feet and I'm sure they're at the steepest angle allowable! Really borderline stuff. Also, in new builds, you often don't get bannisters/spindles, you get a narrow staircase enclosed by plasterboard walls and a slim hand rail.

That's a point. I don't come down the back stairs conventionally that often I go backwards often., the steeper ones. That confirms your point really.

I've mentioned Fantastic Fiction before. It's a great site for any bookstores of a fiction persuasion.

Wow, she did write a lot! It was nice to be reminded of some i enjoyed as a child and had forgotten all about :T
