What I would really like is for someone to present me with a roast dinner at about 5/ 5:30.

    Instead I picked up a pie :):)

    That'd be good.

    Pies are also good :)

Toby Carveries are open 11am to 10pm on Sundays - but you pay 50% more just for it being a Sunday (£9.50 instead of £6). Although eating out alone isn't a great experience - and you might not get a slot if it's that busy.

I did see somewhere round these parts that was advertising an all you can eat takeaway option, so you fill a box with food.

DH still not up to eating and one dd away at uni and another at friend's so just me and DD for lunch.

DH had homemade butternut squash soup and we had roast potatoes, cauliflower, broccoli and sprouts and chicken breasts stuffed with low fat cheese and wrapped in bacon. Tidied kitchen and did a quick hoover. Tackled the mountains of clean laundry that had piled up and got it all sorted and put away.

Popped down to local supermarket and got loads of YS meat to freeze - organic chicken thighs, organic lamb mince. half shoulder of lamb and lamb steaks all at half price. Everything now in freezer and today's washing taken in from washing line and draped on pulley and airer.

DH happily watching snooker downstairs and I am having a browse on here while I summon up the energy to make a cuppa.

    Hugs to all

Breakfast I eat toast with thin jam in the car on way to station pretty much forcing it down due to no hunger, by about an hour later I am starving and eat crisps, fruit and rice crispies dry. However a seeds and nuts and dried fruit mix sounds more healthy and nicer.

As our car is still ill we decided to get a hire car to go to see my brother and his baby, it was much cheaper from Luton airport so we drove there 25 minutes to be told we couldn't have the car as I had not brought the paper bit of my license. AS we were already late we just drove the whole way in our dodgy car. It didn't suffer too much from the smoking problem...but it is clear the clutch is on the way out again, we may have discovered that the reason our cars clutches don't last is because DW always rests her foot on the clutch pedal when she is driving....

Maybe you could be a stay-at-home Uncle so she can go back to flying high?

Everyone should be able to guess what I have for breakfast... Marmite on something toasted.

At the weekend it is usually something cooked.

    There is always coffee too.

Edit: and though it doesn't help you now, I think paper licences are being abolished in the near future.

I've got to use my paper license for ID purposes soon so I can get some use for it. Can't afford to send my passport away as you also need it for internal flights in this day and age.

Just registered to vote using the new online service. Got to admit I hadn't realised it was necessary even if you were on the paper register. Hope this is an improvement and not some fiasco that Private Eye will be lampooning for years to come.

Sounds nice other than the shredded coconut. Coconut is something I've loathed since I was a kid, even smelling it makes me want to puke. I wonder if we could replace that with ground almonds? I think I'll send the recipe to OH and see what he thinks.

If he decides to give it a try I'll try and remember to report back! Though not sure it will work with a straight swap almonds for shredded coconut - different texture. I'll think about it.

Sundays should be a roast, with yorkshires, roast spuds and loads of veggies.....

I had a cheese, tomato and salad cream sandwich :)

Sounds nice. Think I might request some salad cream next time OH goes shopping. It's more vinegary/acidic than mayo, and I do like some bite with salady stuff.

We were going to have roast chicken with all the trimmings (chipolata sausages, stuffing, bacon over the breast) but OH isn't well - has horrid sore throat and cough. Then he had to go to old home to show someone around as EAs didn't have anyone to do it. So we had plaice and fried potatoes and peas. Oh, lemon juices squeezed on fish too. It was tasty. Not sure if we'll have the chicken etc tomorrow or get a pizza in. I'm worried about OH's sore throat, but he won't even try go doc... Mind you impossible to get appt anyway. <roll eyes smilie>

Too much risotto is one of my favourite things. Especially when it got a bit burnt so there are scrapings at the bottom of the pan.
