I know it's your territory Mas, but I hate the whole modern way of doing things. Haul a few people in, check they can string a sentence together and have the qualifications you are looking for, do they seem like someone you can get on with or not. Make your mind up, stop wasting everyone's time.

Welcome to Bugs nice trucking company' s simple way of doing things.
I think that's the difference between small companies and large ones, who have an HR/"talent identification" or some such department which needs to justify its existence.
Last job I went for I sat down with the lady who was leaving, she showed me what she did, I got the tour then they asked if I could start next week.
I've been there 7.5 years now.
DS's first interview with his current employers was with the 2 others he would be working with, very informal. He had been to several other interviews with other firms where different people asked innumerable variations on the same question, so was a bit thrown by this. They obviously wanted to check they could all get on before they took it to higher up interviews. Very sensible.

I once went for an interview at a firm based on Brussels Airport.
Nice jolly chap. After the interview, he said the usual 'will be in touch', then asks if I'd like to go for a pint in the departures hall.
    Sure thing.
We were hanging at the bar from about 4pm till midnight and I had to carry him to the last train to Charleroi.
Next day he called to say I got the job. :)

In our company it's called 'talent acquisition'. A bunch of school leavers trawling through LinkedIn to find the right fit. :(

not sure if I posted about taps, but I have a recent quality fail with bristan so thought i would share it.

we have good quality taps, Perrin & !!!! for sinks and a now spare bath set.the shower is bristan, and this week the the white lever for shower on/off snapped and broke within the "chrome" fitting. turns out this piece is plastic, so having a plastic section in between two metal sections seems a recipe for wear and tear. OH ordered a piece from the Bristan website , he could not complete the transaction so called the orderline which took almost an hour to answer. it is now ordered though and the part is just shy of £29, so not pricey.

OH has just gone into our utility room which is at the back of the garage. Someone has popped in and left us a large empty cardboard box and a smaller box containing 25 copies of the libretto to half a sixpence.
