I tried to find the hug image, but it's not there. I can see why people give the grouphug so often, it's because you get to the end of the list and it's the last one on the list, so easier to do that than to go back and insist on finding the regular hug picture
Wow - thanks PN!
Thanks everyone else too
I didn't need reminding - but this is such a lovely corner of the internet to be a part of. You have all helped me a great deal just by being there and caring. 0 -
Some thoughts...
What you perceived earlier as his negative feelings about you may just have been him thinking "Oh **** I am supposed to be giving this girl the help she needs and I should have [insert what he ought to have done, eg "read her thesis and got back to her by now" or other supervisory activity].
Thank you Lydia.
I think perhaps part of the coldness was along the lines of viva's dad preferring to discuss close-coupled lavatories (hope all went ok btw viva). I do think he was also quite hungry!
It would have been nice if I hadn't had to be the one to instigate talking, but hey - I somehow managed it. Got quite close, but didn't actually cry either which is a bonus.
If you can just edit the part of my post you quoted after 'will delete' that would be great
- the rest of it can stay or go as you please. 0 -
I agree. I find the trick its to avoid carb-heavy stuff and eat as much in the way of vegetables as possible.
Thanks for the hug, michaels. All hugs gratefully received

Hug duly delivered!
heard a lot of good stuff about the 5:2 diet and if I ever get my life back, I'd try it out. Exactly what you're meant to eat on the fast days is what I need a cheat sheet about. If anybody finds anything like that, feel free to pass it on to me.There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0 -

Duh! I wasn't intending to quote your post at all. I clicked "quote" so it would be in the window and I could see what it said while I wrote my reply, but I was intending to delete it before actually posting. Sorry.
Today is supposed to be my day off. I have got to spend it being busy:
1) Write reports for school. This should have been done by last night so that I could have today as a proper day off as usual for Thursdays, but we were late home because of a flat tyre (had to call RAC because hole too big for sealant thingy and no spare wheel) and then DS wanted lots of help revising for a maths test, while DD needed me for something else that was frightfully important at the time but I can't even remember now. Oh, and I had to catch up on the NPT of course.
2) Return the RAC's spare wheel to the local ATS and get a pair of new tyres. I was thinking of seeing Ford about getting an actual spare wheel for my car, but on second thoughts I think I've enough on today and will leave that for another time. It was the nearside front tyre that went, so I'll keep the offside front one in case I end up with a full size spare wheel and can put it on it.
3) Choose and buy a kitchen tap for Helpful Builder to fit on Saturday.
All I really want to do is go to sleep. I'm usually so strict about now doing school work on my day off, so I'm feeling a bit sorry for myself that I've got to do it today.

Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

My feet are not very large (UK size 10, european 44), but when I drive Mrs. Wheezy's i10, I'm still poking with the top of my foot against the steering column when moving from the brake to the accelerator.lostinrates wrote: »I hVe a friend with VERY large feet. Progress on the weight loss has stalled a bit, I'm now stuck on 15st 4lbs and hasn't moved much the last 2 months.heard a lot of good stuff about the 5:2 diet and if I ever get my life back, I'd try it out. I blame winter.

After buying our "forever" house four years ago and deciding we were never ever moving - guess what!
One dd got married last weekend, another dd is in final year of uni so could be anywhere next year and another has just bought her first house and should be moving in shortly - getting the place furnished and decorated while staying here, working full time and starting a PhD.
DH had skin cancer near his eye removed over a year ago and then radiotherapy so things were "normal" and no need to worry. Then the blasted thing jumped, went dormant then woke up and spread behind the eye
We have had months of aggressive treatment with chemo and radiotherapy and he managed to walk dd down the aisle and also give a short speech :j
House is now on the market as this one is now too big as is the front and back garden and looks like an easy to manage bungalow will be our next move. Until we have a better idea of future health
prospects we are not in any rush. Just glad we did not have viewers when he was really ill and tired and we will have Christmas here with all the family.

I like your philosophy. Mine is "stuff happens!" "And we deal with it" Not like it but just do what we can.
