In other news. Kiwi just killed a fox.

I feel very sad, but he did just save all the chickens. Fox pretty much his size.

Did he get hurt in the fight at all?

We did not go for a walk. my hand had a lot of oedema in it today and it is an increasing problem as it was getting quite solid, so we had to prioritise that.

pre stroke I had oedema in the left wrist anyway following cardiac surgery, but now it is from my finger tips to elbow.

Hope they are able to help you with that.

Well, I took my dad for his MRI today. As we didn't want to discuss C, I had the chance to question him on taps on behalf of Lydia. He said:

    1. Ceramic disc rather than washer, but most taps these days are ceramic disc anyway.
    2. Buy a decent brand, something like Grohe, Franke or Bristan. They are easy to get parts for and replacement ceramic discs from the good names aren't very expensive.
    3. Avoid Chinese imports like the plague.
    4. Make sure that the fittings are brass (which they likely will be on expensive taps anyway).

Thereafter we had a rather fascinating conversation about close coupled toilets. Men and emotions eh?

Errr... glad I was able to supply you with safe subject matter... I think.

Thanks for asking him. It's my day off tomorrow so I'm going to go tap shopping, so your timing is perfect. Will let you all know how I get on.

In other news, somebody directed me to this TED talk recently. I didn't think much of the first 6 minutes or so, but it got more interesting to me after that. I have started playing the game mentioned in the talk to see if it will help me with my mental health stuff and procrastination etc.

Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

Heating is fully working! All I have to do now is to get used to the new controls.....
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

Does that mean you have to return to work after Christmas?

What happened? you posted the other day that work had dried up andyou were browsing, what do they want you to do in the extra two weeks?

unsurprised you are cheesed off seems a very normal response to me.

TBH I have no idea. First I was not having my contract renewed and then I was and then I wasn't again. Nobody has mentioned it today so far. I don't mind coming in to work it's the being messed around that wees me off.

I've started on the 5:2 diet thing. Have done one fast day already and this is my second. It's not a great deal of fun I must say. Not too hard though.

I need to get back onto this. Considering the high birth rate at my place of work, I feel the need to tell everyone 'I'm not pregnant, I'm just fat' at the moment. Tis not good. The 5:2 thing gets better. It's the only 'diet' I've ever managed to stick to - and this time last year, 5:2 and 'The Shred' (an exercise video) had worked surprisingly well for me (was still plenty of scope for weight loss, but it was a noticeable improvement).

Thanks for all the words of encouragement too. I do hate having to be adult about things, but I've got to say I am quite proud of doing *something* proactive today.

    Will delete:
Steered clear of any mention of how it feels to be omitted from things, and stuck to the main problem - thesis.

Plan in brief - he's not had a chance to look at it yet, will do so next week. I said if necessary I'd submit it as is for the deadline and face consequences. He'll let me know what he thinks.

If it needs too much more work (likely), he's hopeful (no promises) that there will be further lenience, in light of signs of effort. He volunteered that he'd also been slow and would mention this if needed.

So I might not be done with it this year. But it's unlikely to be properly done this year anyway. We shall see.

I'm also thinking of visiting my GP. Not sure what will come of it (or what I want from it), but I think it would be good to at the least register that I'm not feeling 'normal' in case anything escalates (have felt hints).

On the plus side, I gave into persuasion to go to the conference social tonight. A few beers (but not as many as last year when I woke up on the bathroom floor...), a bit of a dance, and some managing to socialise with new people :)

I hVe a friend with VERY large feet. It limits his choice of cars because of ability to use the pedals. ( so he says....his parents got him a very swanky car anyway)

You know what they say about men with big feet ;)

    Big shoes :D

I have just spent £63 on a replacement part to mend a tap! I'm impressed that Grohe still have the parts available after nearly 20 years, but the prices are a bit grotesque. (No pun intended.)

What would it have cost for a new tap?
I'd think of it as just over £3 a year. Bargain!

glass! Its from the V and A online shop so not very exclusive ;)

They have some really nice stuff though.

When I lived (just) in London, I went to a few 'Lates' at the V+A. They were fab - run by Mastercard, free food and drinks and a chance to stroll around at night (i.e. no littlies) and often some extra exhibits out of the archives. I'd treat myself to something from the shop (well, the rest of the night was free so why not? And they have a lot of surprisingly reasonably priced stuff too).

Now not going to hear about the job till Monday. So fed up of all this.

It was a very long a drawn out process applying for my job. Including an interview date that I accepted and they didn't follow up on - I was too nervous to call them and ask !!!!!! was going on. Emailed them a couple of days to ask whether it was still happening and was told (after the date, no). Took 6ish months between applying and job offer. Good job I wasn't trying too hard job hunting!

You're still in the game. Maybe someone is off sick? Who knows why. Good luck.

Hope you're ok too Yorkie. Look after yourself.

DS had to wait ages between interviews and then job offer - even though he was the one they wanted, first of all they needed to interview other people just so they had some more candidates nominally to choose from. Then he had a second interview and the powers that be said surely you can find someone else to second interview for a comparison. It took a while for him to get the offer; the recruitment consultant worked hard on chasing them up.
No doubt it's red tape or someone being off which is delaying the process.
