And around 70 us police officers are killed on duty each year, so you can see why they might be a touch jittery.

I'd be pretty jittery if I worked for an organisation that seems to have a nasty habit of beating and killing people because of their skin colour.

Perhaps one day they'll be coming for me:eek:

Central heating system is completely beggered...man who usually can couldn't get it working again and it is now condemned. Now all I have to do is sit back and wait for them to come up with a date for a completely new heating system to be installed, whilst also freezing my boobies off.

We've already got a frost outside, the man who can (but couldn't) had the door wide open all day, I've only one oil filled radiator which works well, the other is old and not quite so great and I am bloody freezing. My feet are like ice blocks and no amount of blankets, wheat bags etc are warming them up, the cold has just become ingrained in me now after having to sit with doors open to the outside world all day.

Think I may get onto the housing association tomorrow and ask if they are able to provide other sources of heating until the heating system can be installed....but won't hold my breath.

Oh poor Sue, i do hope so! It's horrible being cold :(

    It is horrible.

When I was just about out of Uni our heating broke down and the LL was in India on an extended holiday and was (apparently) uncontactable. No heating, no hot water in Feb in London for 3 weeks.

My flatmate and I ended up going to the estate agents and answering their phones for them, explaining our tale to all their customers whilst smoking big fat cigars to stink the place out. That resolved the matter although I doubt it's of much help to poor Single Sue.

At this point I would return the gift to the giveror donate it to a raffle, rather than be compelled to add to the household clutter to satisfy the givers requiremnts. you posted that they exchange gifts you give without a fuss being made.

the pressie from OH suggestion.....a handbag.

Returning gifts would be like declaring war. I too thought that exchanging a present was reasonable, given that mine are often returned but apparently not.

I am in what I imagine is the PN school of handbags: if it functions and looks half decent it is all I need. I have friends that drool over Mulberry, Coach and Michael Kors (their current bag of choice), I am happy if it is the right shape and size.

The amount my DW has in her handbag, I think I will get her one on wheels.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

Was about to post how I love those frosty crispy nights, but hearing Sue's troubles, I hope it turns and stays mild now! Happy to chip in.

Hehe, I love looking out of my bedroom window at a crispy and white frosty morning....don't so love clearing the ice off the car though :rotfl:
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

Heating people are coming out this afternoon to do a survey on what needs to be done (I felt like sarcastically saying "My bloody heating is what needs to be done!") and he said that hopefully, the new system will be put in in around a week or so.

They will also be dropping more heaters off, probably tomorrow or the day after.

Handbags - I only have one but it is mahoosive to carry all the crap I have to carry...this includes inhalers, epipens, medical notes/letters for the boys (in case of emergency), pain relief, anti allergy stuff....with still enough space for an Ipad or DS.

Yay! And the forecast shows slightly milder from tomorrow and up to 12-13C from Thursday till Saturday, but then dropping off again early next week, hope it's sorted by then.

Sounds like the sort of 'handbag' that can only go in the hold.
