From what I could see, to save that tiny little bit of time opening and closing it when he was going in and out. I didn't mind so much when he was in the constant in and out phase but got a little annoyed when he was in the messing about in the house for an hour phase.
I shut the door at that point.....he noticed, tutted and opened it again!
Could it perhaps have been to do with ventilation of gas systems to make sure any small gas leaks couldn't build up and become dangerous?Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -
I don't know, the reason he gave was because he would in and out all the time. The boiler was off most of the time whilst he was messing about taking things off the pipes and adding new things on before he finally tried to get it working. We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.

In that case I find his behaviour inexcusable - at the "messing about with it for an hour" stage, anyway.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Morning all.
Sue, could you contact the Home Energy Advice Team (HEAT) at this organisation:
http://www.nea.org.uk/see-us-in-action/Current-projects/heat
Although their area is fuel poverty, I can't believe they won't know the best course of action in your situation, or be able to help you find the right help if they aren't the right people.
As the home's owner, the housing association or council has a duty of care towards you as their tenant. If they cannot provide you with a working central heating system straight away, then they need to provide you with a number of electric heaters to keep you all safe and warm. Don't worry about the additional cost, there are plenty of people happy to pay a couple of pounds each to help you, just get a solution in and get warm until they can fix it.
AIUI, our local council had a supply of electric heaters which they took round a relative's house when their heating broke down, so I would hope that they would have similar, particularly given yours and the boy's situation. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Is that one of the things you learn at librarian school?0

I agree with viva. The priority here is your physical health. You have enough difficulties with your joints already. It's really important that they are not allowed to get worse because of the cold. This is much more important than your desire not to be a burden, either to the council or indeed to us.
Please try the council today and let us know what they say. We will gladly chip in for heaters if the council won't, and/or to cover the increased electric bill regardless of where the heaters come from.
Are you also without hot water? Or do you have an immersion heater as backup to the boiler? Can you go and have showers etc at your parents' place if you can't have them at home?Do you know anyone who's bereaved? I have to agree with Sue and PN here. Trying to get people to close doors is pretty much impossible, and in many ways might be harder on SS with physical demands of letting them in, because you can bet they'll not put latch on or what ever.
Earlier in the week I suggested just trying to keep sitting room warm, and SS said that's the room he was mainly in and out of, so I would then, had I been more on the ball, suggested one of the bedrooms so that Sue or one lucky boy, had a warm room that evening to study in, or the kitchen, if its a room the boys can do home work in.
The main problem now is that the house, the fabric of the house, is cold, and I e what ever little heating is provided until big guns come in you just sort of warm the air in the house, so keeping that air in becomes quite important. That's why things like hot water bottles /heat in bed or where you sit are sort of more valuable, because they warm you in a different way.0 -
Thanks guys but (how can I say this without sounding ungrateful), we should be ok without you guys having to contribute as you have all been so kind in the past. I am grateful at the thought though.
Yes, we do have an immersion heater for the hot water although I have not tested it since before he came yesterday, so I am hoping that still works! If not, then yes, my parent's have a bath and shower we can use if needs be....their bath is oodles better than mine, lovely and long, you can have a proper lay down bath!We made it! I'm feeling good, but not shaking desire for enormous amounts of extra sleep. Yesterday my dogs had 'nap time ' from eight am till half eleven when I joined them down stairs again. Then we had dozey afternoon together, which is nice but not as a general lifestyle.
I had decided that it was time to wrap up to do birds etc in the morning, but nipped out in a nighty and boots this morning to let out and feed ....thinking it might wake be up. It didn't but it is nippy indeed, so I was quick.0 -
You don't sound ungrateful, Sue. Don't worry.
OK, if you're sure you're all right. But the offer remains open so you can change your mind if the situation goes on for longer than you expect. The fact that we've helped you before doesn't matter. We know you cope admirably when things are normal, and we are here for you when you are hit by things beyond your control. We admire you for your care of your boys despite the massive limitations that that has been putting on your earning capacity for years now.
But please do follow viva's suggestion and take advice, hassle the council etc.Do you know anyone who's bereaved?
