I'm cold ... and hungry ... and sitting in the dark.

Automatic light switch hasn't turned on yet and I don't want to turn it on manually as I want to continue to check it is working fine.... can't think what to cook/eat beyond toast ... and can't be bothered to get up and move the switch so the heating comes on.

EDIT: I snapped.... had to go for a wee, so turned the heating on, then made myself a nice 'cooked breakfast' to eat, came back into this room and it was still dark so I had to turn the lamp on to eat my dinner :)

Nearly signed this couple up as tenants for MIL's house. The agent was dead keen on them, but I thought we should do some checks.

So what happens to the chairs when you get admitted? They are often really strict about what you can take in with you. I recall people saying that umbrellas are banned and there is little storage.

Ah, this is why I want to take the car.

Apparently you have to queue up for quite a long time to swap your ticket for a numbered ticket to get in, as they over-subscribe. So for that we'll take our chairs. We can't leave the line, except to pop to Costa to top up on coffee. Once we have our passes we have about 3 hours to pop the chairs back to the car, get changed and enjoy the joys of Borehamwood Library, lunch, Debenhams, perhaps Tesco.... If we went by train we would have to stand up for 2-3 hours in the queue.

Brother in law does not want them as tenants. I was more prepared to give them a chance - at least have a discussion with them. At the end of the day, would you be comfortable with handing over a fairly valuable asset to them?

No I wouldn't. Sounds like theft with breach of trust (or whatever the actual term is).

Will delete: been there, got the metaphorical t shirt - wouldn't trust them again no matter how many tears and apologies.

Edited to add - it is really difficult. How is someone supposed to keep on living (finding somewhere to live/ work etc) after that? In principle I believe in second chances etc, but I'd be wholly hypocritical and say that I wouldn't want to be the one on the giving end of that particular chance. Once bitten, twice shy and all that.
