I guess you need all the facts - I broke the law (by mistake) in the States by buying a beer a few days before my 21st birthday.....

    That's probably a little different .....
Actually, in the post we're discussing, the US does have some "odd" laws based around age - but not age per se, but age difference.
    e.g. 17's OK if you're 18 .... but 17's not OK if you're 21. Obviously it varies state to state. Whereas here it's a blanket 16 ... even if you're 95.

The age of consent in Italy is only 14.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

I don't know if I'm a dinosaur, but to me it matters a lot just how underage the girl was (or was supposed to be, given this was a police sting). If she was 15 1/2, say, I would not be all that fussed about it. Of course, there has to be a minimum age, and your friend was breaking the law, but it is not seriously weird for a man to find a girl of that sort of age attractive. On the other hand, if she was 10 .....

    I agree with this.

I had a close friend at university who was totally taken in by a lecturer. He'd already been married 3 times, had a daughter that was only 2 years younger than her. He was in his fifties, she was 19. So theoretically nothing wrong. The university authorities must have rumbled that something wasn't right because he was encouraged to take early retirement.

    Welcome Ivy!

A couple of relaxing days here for once, just popping here and there at a relaxed pace. Youngest has taken to not going out with us and is only leaving the house to go to college which is a little concerning.
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

    Welcome Ivy :)
  • Can I seek advice from the NPs?

I need to produce pudding for 12 people next Saturday. It's my parents' 40th wedding anniversary, and their 65th birthdays, too - my Dad is 64, my Mum's about to turn 66, so they are having a joint bash half-way between their 65th birthdays.

Normally, my Mama cooks in their house, as she's a very good cook plus rubbish at delegating. For her birthday / wedding anniversay, she gets shoved out of the way, and her 3 daughters are each doing a course.

    My pudding needs to be:

    1. gluten-free (and properly so, sister #1 is a coeliac); and

    2. vegetarian (not that troublesome for a pudding, but gelatine etc can be tricky); and

    3. preferably mostly prepared in advance, so that I don't get in the way of my sisters doing the starters and mains, and also so that if Kermie's in a grump everyone isn't left sitting there getting bored.

    What would the NPs suggest?
...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.

Fruit salad too much of a cop out?

A housemate of mine once made a cheesecake for his gluten-intollerant girlfriend using almonds for the base. That was quite nice.

Creme brulee? It's yummy, 100% gf without resorting to cheats or wierd stuff and people are scared to make it so bonus points there!

    I use the Taste.com.au recipe:

    5 cups single cream
    2 vanilla beans
    12 egg yolks
    2 cups caster sugar
    4 tablespoons brown sugar

Make a custard from all the ingredients bar the brown sugar. Cook in a bain marie or 2 for 25-30 mins in a 150C oven and then cool for at least 4 hours. Brown sugar on top just before serving and burn with a torch/the grill.

    Nom, nom, nom.
