  • Erk, I've just applied for this, and only now come here and read the messages about BT's customer service.

It's already not looking good. I got an email saying my order would start with VOL, and then a few minutes later another with my order number, which started with AJM. Has anyone else had this happen?

I've already got phone with them, so if they mess this up I'll jump ship totally.

It's not only BT though. A colleague at work finally got Virgin cable installed, 3 months (and many frustrated calls) after she ordered it! :(
  • Was about to apply for the latest offer (an effective £17.52 a month for 12 months for fibre) but BT's website does not provide an option to pay for the line rental upfront, despite their site even referring to the option in the FAQ.

I'm assuming I'll have to call them and do it all over the phone.
  • I called BT. Basically, it is still possible to pay for Line rental upfront, at the discounted rate of £16.19 a month, but you have to do it by calling them after the service has gone on-line. You just call them and pay it over the phone. What is confusing is that when you place the order, you still have to go through and place it as if you are paying 17.99 monthly, only to then go and pay it all upfront after the service starts. It is a quirk of ordering services via a 3rd party discount site they tell me.

So, I've placed my order for what will effectively be 38Mb broadband for £17.52 a month for 12 months, once I've claimed the cashback and paid the line rental upfront.
  • I signed up via MSE for the unlimited broadband with weekend phone calls - total was meant to be £281 but the £150 Sainsburys voucher and £40 Boots voucher meant that I'd actually be paying £90 for a year's unlimited Internet. Sounds like a great deal right?

Part way through my first month I received an email: "You have used up more than half of your 10GB limit". What? I read through the fine print buried down the bottom of an earlier confirmation email and sure enough, I am not on unlimited at all but have signed up for a 10GB limit and, get this, no phone calls.

Customer service says "Sorry, you should have checked the confirmation emails. However, we can change you to another (more expensive package). I know I signed up for unlimited so someone has done a switcheroo on me and there's nothing I can do but pay the higher charge.

And it gets worse: those £190 of vouchers I was supposed to receive? Apparently I've been rejected. No details yet as to why as I'm waiting for the gift voucher department to contact me...

Feeling absolutely cheated by BT and wish I'd never signed up. I'm paying significantly more than I would be if I'd gone with any other provider. Oh, and my landline has no dial tone. So much for making phone calls.
    Hi,

I've had a similar problem when I chased up my claim for my Sainsbury's voucher:

    Dear ANDREW ARNOLD,

Thank you for your patience while we’ve been investigating this matter.

I’ve checked your claim for a Sainsbury’s Gift Card and unfortunately your order does not meet the specific criteria for you to receive one.

As your order was placed on 17/08/2015 your order does not meet the criteria for a Sainsbury's Gift Card as there was no existing customer offer at the time.

Please check the terms and conditions mentioned below:
82.From 07.08.15 until 13.08.15 new to BT customers eligible for a £50 Sainsbury's Gift Card when ordering a BT Broadband package and for a £100 Sainsbury's Gift Card when ordering a BT Infinity package. Existing BT Broadband customers upgrading to BT Infinity or those adding just BT TV are excluded

83.From 21.08.15 until 27.08.15 new to BT customers eligible for a £75 Sainsbury's Gift Card when ordering a BT Broadband package and for a £125 Sainsbury's Gift Card when ordering a BT Infinity package. Existing BT Broadband customers upgrading to BT Infinity or those adding just BT TV are excluded

    Apologies for any inconvenience caused.

    Best wishes,

    Swagata

...I am utterly convinced that when I placed the order the offer was in place but it is a bit tricky now to prove that. Anyone have any ideas as to how I might prove that the offer was in place when I made my order?

    Cheers folks.
  • Hi all,

In our broadband guide BT broadband is in our top picks.

We're after feedback from people who have applied this deal and want to know your experience and if you had any trouble getting the broadband.

Thanks for all help in advance
    Hi,

I've not had the best experience and will seriously reconsider extending my contract as the £100 voucher I was expecting appears not now to be available to me. Anyone else had a similar experience?:

  • Hi - SEE PREVIOUS TIP ABOUT TAKING A SCREEN SHOT

Signed up this afternoon for £10 p/m unlimited fibre broadband from MSE link offering £75 reward plus £75 cashback after Virgin have increased from £27 p/m to £33 for supposedly 50 mb speed (I average about 25 mb)
I did call Virgin to see what they could do and the best they could offer was £24 p/m so its true - it is worth haggling!

However, all in all this BT offer works out just over £18 p/m plus guaranteed 38 mb speed.
Sign up was very easy, just scroll down for the option to pay a year upfront. And by agreeing to install myself (how hard can it be lol?) I saved the extortionate £49 engineer fee.

I hadn't read these posts before I signed up so I'm a little worried, and what is really interesting, clicking on the same MSE link now leads to a different deal on the BT website - IE £100 reward card plus a £40 Boots voucher. I had to go back through my history to find the deal I had signed up for which technically doesn't end until midnight tonight (and the countdown is still working with over 3 hrs to go)

So I followed the excellent advice of a previous poster who recommended taking a screen shot of the actual deal you sign up for in the event of any discrepencies in the future. I went one further and
1-took a screen shot of the old BT page (with "my" deal highlighted) and showing the url linked from this site
2-copied the MSE deal advertised and links (useful to find the links again for when I want to claim)
3-my confirmation email from BT (showing when I signed up to prove it was within the time frame)
4-the T&C's on BT's website re "my" deal.

Saved it all on a word doc so I can just ping it off to them should they quibble, and good for my records too!
Hopefully that'll be enough...thanks for the original tip and my advice would be to not clear your browsing history and check the original deal hasn't changed even if its well within the timeframe. Good luck!
  • Interesting, I took up the offer mentioned by Kat_K (i.e. £100 reward card plus a £40 Boots voucher) on 3rd March and on claiming was initially told, via the automated claim system, that I had no valid claim but when I raised an incident to query this I received the following (The Mastercard referenced was for £75 rather than £100) but again I can't really see how to prove which offer was in place at the time of the order..

Sorry you’ve not received your gift card as yet.
I can confirm that the Master Card gift card is already being processed and you should receive this within the next 30 working days.

For your Boots voucher, you are not eligible, because of the following terms and conditions. Please read the terms and conditions mentioned below:

This offer is available to customers who order a new BT Broadband or BT Infinity package via selected online partners during specific dates. Our current promotion runs from. 16th February – 25th February with Cable.co.uk and their chosen partners. Earlier promotions are shown below:

  • I signed up for the BT Braodband Infinity Package and followed the link through MSE and bookmarked my two claim websites. One for the £100 pre paid mastercard and the other web page for the £30 gift card.
I had my broadband up and running by the required date and when I go to claim my £100 reward card it states I haven't got my broadband up and running (Clearly I have as I'm using it to get onto the website!) I think I have successfully claimed my £30 card but surprise surprise - the £100 one is much harder to come by and so far my first claim for it over a week ago has gone without any response so I have sent a second claim.
Anyone else had this problem with claiming for the reward card?

I think BT are great, I've been a customer with them since 2012 and they are far better than Sky. Just signed up for another 12 months and spoke to a very helpful Irish chap at BT and I have saved money by renewing my contract with them

I had BT Sport reduced from £5 a month to £2.50 a month
BT Sport HD reduced from £4 a month to free for the first 3 months
BT Infinity and Calls reduced from £30 to £22 a month

I had to sign up to a new 12 month contract to do this but that's not a problem as I think BT Infinity is a great service

    Hi,

I signed up on 07/04/2016. £100 reward claim has been accepted but BT saying that the cashaback was only valid until 05./04/2016 - but MSE had said it lasted until 07/04.

    Can you advise please?

    Thanks,
    Richard
