  • I went through the MSE and for the good deal for phone infinity broadband and TV. Unfortunately the handover from sky which should have happened on 26th February has been completely messed up by BT resulting in me being without any broadband service for 11 days so far and counting. The latest is an engineer visit is booked for the 19th March meaning being without broadband for 21 days minimum.

If I had known the hassle I would have never gone through with changing to BT as Fibre with Sky was OK but I moved for a better deal. Its not a better deal if BT cannot provide a service.

So far over 10 hours on the phone to BT customer service and order management. Their service is appalling. No wonder their phone lines are always busy since they cannot get anything right.

I ordered the Infinity 1 20Gb pay in advance option this morning and it is £311 for the year, not £281 as there is a non-waiveable, one-off £30 "installation" fee that has to be included. I informed them that, according to the MSE website, the deal price should be £281 but they wouldn't have it.

They were supposed to be adding my wife's details to the account info and putting me through to the team who manage installations to see if this could be brought forwards but the call was dropped. It took 23mins to sort this when I called back this afternoon inc. giving my address and email details at least 3 times! Not so sure about the customer service so far but if it gets turned on within a fortnight as agreed we'll be happy for now I suppose.

So it turns out that the advertised price might be available via a £30 Cashback deal that's only available if you buy online through broadbandchoices! I'll have to cancel and re-order!!

Ok, so I'm having a 'mare - MSE are referring to std broadband. And not Infinity which does come with the £30 activation fee. Seems the package with broadbandchoices that incs. The £30 Cashback gets around that as long as it's possible to get the line rental saver by paying up front. I'm now looking at the Quidco deal with £90 Cashback but the available packages are now all different - why is this such a pain?!

I think I should give up - Infinity £7.50/mth is 20Gb limit; £12.50 get you unlimited.
  • Hi! I've just signed up with BT. I've never seen this Forum before and wondering, having read the comments above, just what I'm in for! In the first place I was not able to get the cheaper options given in Martin's Tips for May'15, which is the last I have received. This narks me somewhat! I hope I can get the vouchers but will I be able to reach the site once I change over providers. Incidentally, I'm changing from Talk Talk having tried their services on 3 separate occasions in the past and really can't stand them anymore!

I have signed up to the BT Infinity unlimited 38mb phone and TV over the weekend with free sports on the back of the Sainsbury's Vouchers and there is a voucher for Boots or JD sports too. Got an activation date for 6 July so we will see how it progresses.

I am currently with Talk Talk but due to a period of loss of service and the hassle trying to get back up and running with the very poor customer service along with an e-mail to say it was going up in price. I have made the decision to seek a better deal.

My contract with Talk Talk wasn't due to finish till October so they are charging a release fee but according to a letter from BT with an offer you can claim credit with them for choosing to switch.

If everything pans out then I should be a happy bunny.

I had no trouble at all signing up for Bt Infinity - got the cashback & vouchers ok too. But the customer service is terrible. I am not getting anywhere remotely near the estimated speeds, but am just being stonewalled by BT & told that nothing is wrong!

Signed up for BT infinity in January and it's been a poor experience overall. The speed is noticeably faster than standard broadband, but it can be unreliable at times i.e disconnecting from devices for no obvious reason.

Claiming the Sainsbury's voucher was a hassle and it took months of chasing which was finally resolved in May.

Then there have been the price rises....... :(
Firstly the fiver for BT sport which was "free" when i signed up and the most recent line rental and broadband rise!

Overall not a great experience and i'm weighing up options now BT have provided me with the 'get out of jail' free card with the latest price rise!
  • I signed up via MSE for the unlimited broadband with weekend phone calls - total was meant to be £281 but the £150 Sainsburys voucher and £40 Boots voucher meant that I'd actually be paying £90 for a year's unlimited Internet. Sounds like a great deal right?

Part way through my first month I received an email: "You have used up more than half of your 10GB limit". What? I read through the fine print buried down the bottom of an earlier confirmation email and sure enough, I am not on unlimited at all but have signed up for a 10GB limit and, get this, no phone calls.

Customer service says "Sorry, you should have checked the confirmation emails. However, we can change you to another (more expensive package). I know I signed up for unlimited so someone has done a switcheroo on me and there's nothing I can do but pay the higher charge.

And it gets worse: those £190 of vouchers I was supposed to receive? Apparently I've been rejected. No details yet as to why as I'm waiting for the gift voucher department to contact me...

Feeling absolutely cheated by BT and wish I'd never signed up. I'm paying significantly more than I would be if I'd gone with any other provider. Oh, and my landline has no dial tone. So much for making phone calls.
