Happy belated birthday Dave! Sorry I missed that first time round!
No snow here, just cold and wet.
I managed to dismantle the old sheep fence above the stream in the copse area yesterday and shift half of it away, but today I was confined to barracks.
The fence has been threatening to fall for a year or two now, so I was determined to get rid of it before spring, which is the stream's prettiest time. The hellebores down there are already out and the primroses won't be far behind....Goodness knows where all the snowdrops went, though. I planted them green, a few came up the following year and now they've vanished.
Losing the fence makes a huge difference. I don't know why I didn't do it ages ago.
I have some exercises to do. No yoga, but at least some can be done sitting down. :beer:0 -
Happy belated birthday Dave, bulbs rotted out? its unusual for mice and that to bother with snowdrops.
I love one set of my neighbours they have topped their leylandii hedge to about 8ft from a well maintained 14ft, no real privacy has been lost we don't really over look each other here houses are in a E shape with us being the long side the light we are now getting on the side return is amazing,
But it did bring to light a bit of a non issue we have with their neighbour as we own a small maintenance strip the other side of the fence that runs up to the rear of our garage im guessing that was to avoid putting an easement on the neigbouring property.
The ( leylandii ) house has respected this boundary their neigbour has built a fence to our fence across this strip we don't take issue with this but now can see they are using this strip to dump garden waste against the feather board fence.
But they are in for a surprise as we have detailed plans of our place and as much as the fence is on our land we don't have any liability for it, nobody does it will be a gentlemans agreement when it comes to replacing it.
We will be more than happy to cover the cost to do this with Leylandii hedge couple but unless he clears the waste we wont even contribute to his as it doesn't bother us having a fenced in site, visually I'd much prefer it open with the shrubs and the trees at the rear, we are a bit more formal at the front so it lend itself better to be fenced. im guessing thats the gardener in me that looking more at the aesthetic rather than the practical security of fencing.0 -
tori.k I hate neighbouring fencing stuff. I can all end in tears.
We have more snow so not going far today I doubt or for the next few days.
I have loads I could be doing indoors but I trudge around achieving little. I am half in and half out of hibernation.0 -
Im praying it doesn't, hopefully he will just agree to pull it off away from the fence to help preserve it, I hazard a guess they will when the penny drops that we are not liable, its in all our financial interest to maintain it as long as possible the amount of fencing doesn't come cheap. im not opening the can of worms that is the maintenance strip if I claim it I have to maintain it and it really isn't worth it.0

Best to just all work together on it - much better.
Snow seems to be thawing slightly but supposed to freeze tonight - if it does it will be treacherous.
Got some cheap bags of carrots on Monday so the sheep got a few in their feed earlier on.0 -

What a difference a few miles up the road makes, we had a few hail and rain showers until lunchtime then dry enough to be working in the garden for the rest of the day.
Typically DH has gone down with a cold and not up for doing much and I had some heavy jobs I wanted starting, this week is pretty much a washout and its going to be August before I get anymore leave. this having to work for a living is an absolute pain0 -
Snow will be worse today, I fear. We had a moderate frost overnight and it looks as if more snow will arrive this morning, becoming heavy by afternoon.
A nuisance because we have an appointment to plan the ensuite today in Barnstaple.Looks like you will just get rain.
Ha, but my decision to whip out yesterday pm and grab essentials the guests consumed over the weekend is vindicated. We have a month's supply of most food, but some things just 'disappeared,' and it's good to have fresh veg anyway.
Saw the Air Ambulance on 3 different missions yesterday and DW saw it once when I didn't, so it must've been working overtime.:A0 -
It's thawed a bit but froze so treacherous indeed out there. Okay walking in the untrod snow but anything else is lethal. I need to post and the outreach comes out this afternoon so will walk up with the stuff that should of gone on Wednesday.0

Cars and people slipping and sliding on our road this morning. Poor DH couldn't get into the car as his door was frozen solid so he had to shuffle over from the passenger side :rotfl:
If the landlord will agree to us bringing our cat up (it does say strictly no pets on the lease) I'm thinking about moving everything and everyone up in the next couple of months, before the house in England is sold. So, if anyone has any advice on transporting a former feral kitty who refuses to use a litter tray on a 6 hour car journey, please let me know. Keeping him in the house afterwards will be a challenge too  I was thinking of phoning the vet to see what they suggest.
