Can you move the socket while you have easy access? Is wiring through wall or under floor... which will be fixed by the flooring!
Village Open Gardens last weekend, and have promised mine will be up next year! GULP... That's a tight schedule, given I only have one flower bed at the moment. Plans, yes, many of those. If wishes were fishes and all that. I did point out all I had when I moved in was 6 shrubs and lots of weeds.
Lots of the gardens were lovely, some less so - but loved just as proudly, which is wonderful. Many of the ponds had fish, and plastic herons to deter the local blighter from poaching. I didn't point out she's my perishing heron, happily nesting on my river bank. I wondered where she was popping off to for her snacks! Anyway, more herons next season to take out the opposition gardens.
Edit: my tablet is so ancient now, it refuses to thank other posters. Who said good manners come with age? Thanks to the above unthankable...

Lucielle - I've PM'd you.
Good that Dolly is a good mum. Vet's bill is a sore one Alfie. Hope you get them good homes.
Dull here today & much cooler, but I am pleased as it's been so warm - shame to moan about the weather, but it was exhausting.
Dave - did your DD get into bother knitting lampost sweaters in Bristol - saw an article in the I newspaper & remember that she was doing stuff similar?
IHS - I would move the socket while you have the radiator off & before decorating. Always jobs to do.
OH is doing the facings around the doors as joiner just hasn't appeared back - we still haven't got any further with someone to come re levelling around the house. It's really dragging on & we don't want to put the flooring down until it's all sorted as we are just dragging in grit.0 -

Horse Woman's son is here today [More detail later - not good news.....]
Sorry you can't get a joiner, choille. There aren't many real ones about. We were lucky in that respect.0 -
Just an update from me re HW. She's in hospital, but due out in a few days. Never made it to Far East. Had a fall. Her dog did have a tumour and has been PTS.
She will be back here, but without a car, and although there are regular buses, I can't see that lasting.
At least she's safe, and so are the rest of us! Who knows, she might even have specs and a hearing aid.
A lesson to us all: whether you're a son/daughter, or the older person concerned, don't put off difficult decisions or ignore the bloody obvious.:(0 -
Man is here to lay the vinyl in conservatory
Been wiring in dashcam and satnav on the car, so watching YouTube on how to pull the panels off to get access. Car DIY is so much easier now there's video guides on pretty much everything.
Scottish weather has reverted to usual June - is drizzled all day yesterday but weekend looks better. Planning on taking a trip to Culzean Castle in me new motor.
EDIT. All done! Pleased I didn't go for the blue in the end!0 -
IKEA chairs in the conservatory - snap!
Mine make me a little seasick from springyness, but oh so comfy! So how come you are up to doing all that car DIY, but you're ignoring that socket? It's going to trouble my ocd if you leave it there, even though it's not my house.
Dave: poor old HW doesn't seem to be having much luck these days.
Spent most of the morning fixing a brushcutter. Correction; failing to get it apart, even. Finally took the ankle grinder to a spanner, thinned/flattened the head, bent it a bit, and made a special NewToowl. Took 18 seconds to disassemble, 3 minutes to fix. Sadly, this tablet doesn't allow the trademark symbol, so I won't make a fortune from my NewToowl 'ventionI'm always amazed how some things are actually assembled so tightly, springs held ready to explode shrapnel outwards if anyone ever decided to try and fix it. No User Serviceable Parts Inside... that's asking for it. Pleased with myself for remembering to remove the fuelcan from the shower of sparks before ankle grinding. Only found second can under bench afterwards... whoops!
New ride-on lawnmower arrived. WhooHoo. Grass cutting will be faster. BooHoo, I will actually have to cut the grass, no excuse. Darn donkeys are too lazy to even help with eating that stuff, and lie contentedly in the field, watching. They've even mastered grazing whilst lying down.
One day I will have to face up to starting to refurbish this house... maybe next month... or maybe....0 -
Dave: poor old HW doesn't seem to be having much luck these days.I think it was on your side of the country.
Then she fell and broke her hip....from which she's recovering well, but obviously, at that point she came to the attention of the emergency services and all that follows.....;)
I call that luck. There was every chance she'd be 6' under by now.0 -
hi all
I have tried to put a pic of dolly/mixtures on here but it wont play ball....
after a weird weather day here yesterday, its lovely again... yesterday it was raining hard in specific spots [literally] where someone 2 miles away had sunshine and others had rain ?? my sister did a route via trip from iow ,visiting dad, visiting mum and back to iow and avoided a drop yet either side of that route was wet !!
went to look at carpets yesterday after suite was delivered AM. of course it looks a different colour to what I thoughtanyway I managed [via sale prices] to get carpet for lounge/sun room/my bedroom..:j BUT after looking at bedroom measurements ,which is above lounge, it didn't make sense re my measurements  so a chap is coming out today to measure all... pondering on this it dawned on me last night that I was taking the measurement of my ancient tape of 120 inches being 12 foot :wall:, I had measured bedroom in inches [accurate] but converted to feet for other 2 rooms !! what a dork... good job man is coming for accuracy !
I blame puppy brain........
fireman friend of son will fit them for me..
sorry if im not picking up /answering / commenting but I am reading all your reports and wishing you all well....0 -
Not much happening here, but came back yesterday from Inverness to find young ram entangled in a fence. He is badly cut & was quite shaken - don't know how long he'd been there for. Poor thing. I managed to get him untangled & dealt with - not much I could do, but get some antiseptic on him & fly repellant. He seems quite perky this morning - thank goodness.
Lovely day here so must try & get something done outside. No sign of guy who is supposed to be coming to do the levelling & lay chips, so I feel he won't come until it's foul weather.0
